Don't Give Out Personal Information
If you give out to much personal information online bad things can happen. A person could steal your identity, or even find and kidnap you. To be safe do the following. Only state your first name if needed, never your last name. Don't tell where you live, not even the town. Make sure to set up privacy settings correctly. Over all be safe.
Don't Meet With Online Friends In Person
Don't meet with online friends 'offline'. Online people can lie about many things. They may be sexual predators, criminals, or other bad people. It could be a friend pulling a prank but don't take the chance.

Everything Online Is Saved
This goes for everything. If you search for something or do something you shouldn't online it will be saved. You may think that deleting it makes every thing fine, but it's already in your digital footprint. This can be bad for you. It may get in the way of getting the job you want.

Be Careful What You Post
Be careful what you post. You may think that playfully insulting someone online is okay, but it's not. Over the internet you can't tell if someone is being sarcastic or funny. Many people might take that literally, and that will be bad.
Be Creative With Passwords
Being creative with passwords is a big help. Make sure to use password protection. Don't give out your password. If you do people can hack your account which may possibly lead to identity theft. Here's an example. Instead of 'bananas' be creative and use 'b@n@n@$'.

Don't Believe Everything You Read Online
Remember not everything online is true. The internet is a commonly used way to spread rumors. Say you read online that Katie and Mark are dating. You are best friends with Katie and you know it isn't true. Everyone in the school, however, believes it how would that effect them? Think about that and how you would react.
Online, People Aren't Always As They Seem
Online people can lie about a lot of things. They can lie about their age, appearance, name, gender, anything really. Again, they could be a sexual predator, criminal, or something bad like that.
