This is YOUR Chance, Silver Eagles!
First! A Clean Slate for 9th Grade Students
You are NOW entering High School. A chance to start new, with high expectations for yourself. Whatever happened in middle school can be a distant memory. Take advantage of this chance to start over, with new teachers and students. Hodgson has students who attend from all over New Castle County. They attend for the same reasons: to have an exceptional school experience, learn a trade and become a Silver Eagle. Always remember - we are #HVTSTRONG!
Second! A Career Choice
During your freshman year, you will have the opportunity to rotate through career programs to determine which Career and Technical program is best for you. Make sure you take time to learn from and make connections with your instructors. Towards the end of the year, you will go through a selection process called Re-Application. We will explain more about this process once school gets started.
Third! Memories to Last a Lifetime
The times you have in high school will stay with you your entire life. Make the most out of your time at Hodgson. Join a club or get involved in sports. Form positive relationships with fellow students, teachers, counselors and administrators. Keep your options open when it comes to opportunities, friends, and extra-curricular activities. Take part in student activities like Spirit Week, homecoming and other events. There’s a reason you chose to attend Hodgson - make the most out of your decision!
Finally! Reach Out for Help
Our Hodgson administrators, instructors, counselors, learning support coaches, para-educators, student advisors, school nurses and Wellness Center are ready to help and support you during the school year. Do not hesitate to reach out if you need extra help on an assignment for class or having some emotional issues or feelings.
Visit our Wellness Center!
Our School-Based Health Center is now opened and practicing safety measures for COVID-19. School-Based Health Centers, often referred to as “Wellness Centers”, are comprehensive primary healthcare facilities located within the schools, where any student who is enrolled at the school may access services regardless of their family’s income or health care coverage. Multidisciplinary teams of professionals provide a wide range of services including sports physicals, reproductive health care, physical exams, immunizations, mental health services, and nutrition services. Students must register with the School-Based Health Center in order to access services. To register with your School-Based Health Center, please complete the registration form on this link. https://redcap.christianacare.org/surveys/?s=J9PYK7TYNX. To schedule an appointment or ask questions, please call Hodgson School Based Health Center at (302) 832-5400.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness at Hodgson Vo-Tech
We are excited to announce that our Parent and Community Enrichment Coordinator (PACE), Jarrod Garnett, will be our new DEI School Coordinator. His role will include working with our FAM group and developing our school DEI Goals for the 2021-2022 School Year. Mr. Rahsheem Hollis, Assistant Principal, will continue as the DEI Supervisor.
This school year, our faculty will continue to participate in school and professional development around equity and inclusion through meaningful professional learning with guided conversation activities and support from Equity and Beyond through Delaware State University with Mr. Ernest Blackwell and Lori Hayes Speaks. Our DEI teacher committee will continue to meet to explore and discuss how diversity, equity, and inclusion are related to our school community.
In the spring of 2021, Hodgson students participated in a student group called The FAM - Forever A Moment. This group will continue and welcome all students to participate in student training and cultural recognitions. Through the formation of this group, we are also pleased to celebrate the creation of Hodgson's Infinity groups - Ladies Club, Black Student Union, Latinx Unidos, Christian Club, and Pride Genz. After the 2021 School year, the final FAM group meeting of the year, each group came together to share their work over the course of the year. A Student leader from Ladies Club, Black Student Union, Latin X Unidos, Christian Club, and Pride Gen Z all had a chance to share a short presentation. This was an opportunity to hear about the goals they set out to accomplish, the ideas and topics they covered in their meetings, and the final results of the work they completed. They all did an amazing job, and congratulations to all involved.
We look forward to next school year to have more students participate in our ongoing work around Equity and join a group they would like to be affiliated with and participate in with fellow Silver Eagles!

2021 NFHS Virtual National Student Leadership Summit
Tuesday, Aug. 10th, 3pm
The NFHS is excited to announce the second year of its virtual student leadership initiative – the National Student Leadership Summit (NSLS). The NSLS will focus on relevant and contemporary issues facing high school students who are participating in interscholastic athletics and activities.
The virtual event allows student leaders to hear from a variety of experts and two featured speakers. By targeting specific topics, each participant will learn skills such as how to develop and maintain healthy relationships with classmates, teammates, coaches, adult leaders/sponsors, and officials.
Mental health will be a specific focus as coping strategies are shared. Students will learn conflict resolution techniques and how to be better communicators with their peers and adults. Another topic gaining relevance and popularity is “brain mapping.” These young leaders will learn the value of perspective and inclusion as well. Participants will explore the benefits of being more inclusive of their fellow students and how to develop a better frame of reference for decision-making and reactions.
