PRES Participates in Hour of Code

During the week of December 9-15, 2019, PRES students joined millions around the world in the Hour of Code! The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science. Its purpose is to demystify "coding," empowering young students to learn the basics of computer programming, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. During this week, all students (K-5) learned about coding through Ozobots, Little Bits, and block coding projects on Students were highly engaged as they used technology to create, build, problem solve, and explore! Please enjoy some photos from our Hour of Code week. Thank you to Erika Volpe, our ECT, and Erica Rogan, our K-12 UDL Facilitator, for their support and leadership!

Winter Concert is a Success!

Congratulations to our PRES 4th and 5th graders on a wonderful winter concert! On Thursday, December 12th, our 4th-5th grade orchestra, 5th grade band, and 4th-5th grade chorus students performed for the school and their families. Beautiful songs were sung and performed. The students have come a long way in their first few years of the instrumental music program and we were so thrilled to celebrate their accomplishments during this performance. Thank you to Mrs. Lynn Donnavan (chorus), Mrs. Karen Landers (orchestra), and Ms. Alyssa DiGrandi (band) for inspiring our young musicians and for leading us in a spectacular musical performance! We enjoyed a special guest, Jennifer Buschman, a PRES parent who performed as a soloist for one chorus song, The Night Before Christmas. We also enjoyed a violin accompanist, Fox Lane Middle School orchestra teacher, Ms. Andrea Velaszquez, during the song, Bashana Haba'ah. Please enjoy our PRES 2019 Winter Concert photos.

First Grade Caroling

First graders brought joy to Pound Ridge store owners and patrons by singing holiday carols in Scotts Corners. Students rode by bus to Scotts Corners business district where they sung winter songs for parents and community members. They ended their musical tour at Conant Hall where they sang for our Pound Ridge seniors. Thank you, first grade, for spreading warm holiday cheer!

Morning Arrival at PRES

Please remember that if you are dropping off your child in the morning (after 8:40 AM), please use the drop off circle at the front entrance to the building. Parents should stay in their car and only let your child out of the car when you have pulled up to the sidewalk in front of the building. Please do not park in the circle as this can impact other parents dropping off their children, and block traffic flow into the parking lot and on Pound Ridge Road.

If you must walk your child into the building, please use a marked parking spot in the front or back of the building and check in at the main office. While pulling into and out of the parking lot during this busy time of day, please be mindful of the other cars, pedestrians, and buses. Thank you!

Art Leave Replacement Update

As you know, we have been fortunate to have Ms. Nicole Goodrow filling in for Mrs. Allison Belolan, while Mrs. Belolan attends to a necessary surgery and recovery period. Unfortunately, Mrs. Belolan will need to remain out on medical leave for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The recovery from surgery has taken longer than expected, but she is regaining her strength and looking forward to returning to PRES in September 2020. We are fortunate that Ms. Goodrow will be able to stay with us through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Please join me in wishing Mrs. Belolan a smooth and speedy recovery. Please also continue to join me in supporting Ms. Goodrow as she continues to provide our students with a strong, robust art education at PRES.

Parent-Principal Coffees

Please join us for our topic-specific parent-principal coffees. Come hear about BCSD Success Plan initiatives, school updates, and a chance to have informal conversations with the principal. All Parent-Principal coffees will take place in the PRES Library at 9:30 AM.
