November 2022

Principal's Message

Beachmont Families,

We hope that our Beachmont November 2022 Newsletter finds you well!

It is hard to believe that we are already through one-third of the school year. We have roughly three weeks before our December Vacation(December 26th-January 2nd) and we want to ensure that we end 2022 strong!

November was another busy month at the Beachmont. Our enrollment has continued to grow. and we have welcomed new students and families across all grade levels. Teachers and staff are hard at work making sure students are challenged and receiving the necessary support across all content areas. Families will receive Trimester 1 Report Cards on December 2nd via email. We will be hosting Parent-Teacher conferences on December 7th. This is a great opportunity to get a full understanding of how your child is doing at this point in the year. Teachers will be reaching out with how to sign up for a timeslot on December 7th

As we head into the winter months, the challenge of illness will continue to arise. Throughout the country, communities are being impacted by a combination of COVID, flu, and RSV(respiratory syncytial virus) among other illnesses. We know that attendance is a critical part of success in school, but if your child is not feeling well, please use your best judgment when deciding to send them to school. It is going to be a group effort over the next several months. I also want to make sure attendance expectations are clear. The state law for student attendance stipulates that students should not miss more than 7 full school days or 14 half days in any 6-month period. While we know that there are extreme circumstances related to illness that must be considered on a case-by-case basis, this is the guide all schools in the state must follow. Students who exceed this number of absences risk being referred to the district's school attendance supervisor for follow-up. Additionally, the state classifies any student who misses 10% or more of the school year (18 school days) as being chronically absent. Let's do our best to keep an eye on attendance!

I also want families to be mindful of where they are parking during pick-up and drop-off. Please do not use Walters Way(drop off line in front of school) if you intend to walk your child to the door. Please be patient. The safety of our students comes first. We will continue to look into how to make pick-up and drop-off more efficient. This a reminder that students won't be able to enter the building until 8:20 am.

Finally, as the weather continues to get colder and colder, please make sure that your child comes to school with a coat, hat, gloves, etc. If it is over 30 degrees, we will try to get students outside for recess. If you are in need of a coat, gloves, hat, etc. please either reach out to your child's teacher or to me directly cfreisen@reverek12.org.

Please read through the newsletter to get a sense of what is happening at "The Hive."

It's a great day to be a bee!

ST Math at Home

We wanted to make families aware of an interactive, fun, and engaging math program that the district has been utilizing for several years. The program is called ST Math. Here are two links to translated resources on how ST Math can be used at home:

Helping Students Who are Stuck

Students would need to sign onto a device using the Clever App and then would log in using their school-issued username and password.
