Enjoy The Ride!
Love The Bus
February is Love the Bus Month and we want to honor the bus drivers and monitors who safely take our children to and from school each day or drive us to a special field trip location. Love the Bus is celebrated on Valentine’s Day and throughout February in school districts across the country as a way to raise awareness and appreciation for the many school bus drivers across the country.
This year we celebrate our Truman drivers and monitors:
Bus #8- Ronald Allen
Bus #35- Yossi Toney
Bus # 38- Chuck Warren
Bus #62- Robin Wright, driver and Spencer Shaw, monitor
Bus #71- Cindi Rosinski, driver and Carol Adams, monitor
Bus #76- Patsy Parker, driver and Claudia Chappel, monitor
Some of our classes created valentines for these drivers and the staff prepared goodie bags of snacks for each of them. I encourage you to say a special thank you to the driver who travels through your neighborhood each day.
OU Men's Basketball Team Practice
We love our partnership with the OU men's basketball team! We are fortunate to partner with the team once again this year and we enjoy their visits to our school. I'm sure your student has shared with you some of the activities he or she is involved in with their student athlete. It is fun to see these mentors in our building reading with the students, giving spelling tests, assisting with centers or in the computer lab. If we are lucky, they will even spend time outside on the playground showing off their basketball skills. The boys will be in the building on Friday morning so please wear Sooner gear.
Next week, each class is creating a fun thank you poster to be hung in their practice gym or locker room. The kids love to keep up with the team during the season and sending our thanks for their time at Truman Primary is only a start. Another way we can thank them for their kindness is to cheer them on next weekend at their practice. We would love to see our little Trailblazers in the crowd wearing Truman attire:

PreK & Kdg Enrollment Timeline
Kindergarten enrollment is underway and Pre-K applications are ready! If you know of students who are not currently in a NPS program, please make them aware that we are beginning the process of gathering information on these young children. Paperwork is available for pick-up in the office at Truman Primary. Early enrollment allows us to make many decisions regarding class size and personnel, so an accurate count is essential.
Truman Primary Reading Challange
Truman reading superstars... Who will win the gold?
It’s time for our school wide reading challenge! How many minutes can we read??
If your child’s class already does a classroom reading challenge, use the same calendar and we will collect minutes from that. If they do not, a calendar to track minutes has been sent home. Both parent-read and child-read minutes can be counted toward the daily total. At the end of the month, total the minutes read, sign the calendar, and turn in for a prize. Prizes include books, posters, and more! Top readers will be also be rewarded at the end of the challenge. The challenge will run from February through April.
Grade Level Monthly Reading Goals
Pre-K -- 200 minutes
Kdg -- 300 minutes
1st & 2nd -- 400 minutes
