RICHLAND REFLECTIONS
Week of 6/14/21 at Richland Elementary School
June 21st is our last day of school, and this will be our last edition of Richland Reflections for the 2020-2021 school year. Words that overwhelmingly come to mind are grace, courage, and gratitude. I am proud to be part of a community that demonstrated understanding as we all navigated uncharted waters, showed courage in adapting to situations, and expressed thanks for each other. A special THANK YOU shout out to all Richland teachers and staff who sacrificed daily to be there for our students.
Field day is scheduled for tomorrow, and the weather forecast calls for possible rain. We will make a decision by 7:00 AM on holding field day. If postponed, you will receive email and text notifications, and field day will be held on our rain date this Wednesday, 6/16. Please see below for information on how to help students prepare for this memorable day!
As we end the 2020-2021 school year, I want to thank you for your patience, your support, and your willingness to navigate this year together. Through your partnership, we have a sense of closure on a historic year. We have a renewed sense of purpose, and we look forward with hope to next year with students!
Have a wonderful, safe summer!

Richland Principal

FREE SUMMER MEALS
We want to make sure that everyone knows that Quakertown Community’s summer meal program does not require registration or identification – all students need to do is come by to receive a happy and healthy meal. Some favorite menu items we’ll be featuring throughout the summer include:
• Tyson Chicken Tenders
• Twisted Stuffed Breadsticks
• Cinnamon Glazed French Toast Sticks
From June 29 through August 19 youngsters 18 and younger may visit the Quakertown Senior High School bus loop to pick-up meals. Breakfasts and lunches will be distributed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. untill 1 p.m.
If you aren’t already using Nutrislice, I encourage you to download the app or visit Quakertown’s Nutrislice site. Through Nutrislice, you can view what’s on our summer menus, including nutrition information, allergens, and photos. The app is free and available from the App store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and you can search for your menus or find them on the web at www.quakertown.nutrislice.
We are committed to making sure that meals aren’t something that any child or family should be concerned about this summer, and can’t wait to feed the kids in our community! Please feel free to pass the information on to others. This summer we’re able to serve anyone 18 years old and younger throughout Quakertown and not just those who attend Quakertown Community School District.
SIGN UP FOR INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC FOR 2021-2022
Attention families of current 2nd-5th grade students!
You can now sign your child up to play an instrument in the band or orchestra for the 2021-22 school year!
In school, students viewed virtual instrument performances and had a live Q&A session with the instrumental music teachers this past week in order to learn more about the program and their instrument choices. (Virtual students, please view all the instrument performances as shared by your homeroom teacher, and submit any questions to your homeroom teachers, so a music teacher can get back to you.)
How to enroll or get more information:
Step 1: Review music instrument choices on our department website: www.qcsd.org/music
Step 2: REGISTER ONLINE HERE
Register now to make sure your child is ready for the start of school.
If renting an instrument is not a financially viable option for your family, please reach out and let us know. There are scholarships and solutions available to get an instrument for your child.
Please also feel free to contact the music teachers directly:

JOYFUL JUNE
Research has shown that experiencing positive emotions in a 3-to-1 ratio with negative ones leads to a tipping point beyond which we naturally become more resilient to adversity. So let's train our brains to find the joy.
CONSIDER APPLYING FOR FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH
Currently, our district is providing ALL families with children up to the age of 18 with FREE breakfast and lunch for the remainder of the school year through funds from the US Department of Agriculture. However, if you do not have a current application on file for the 2020-2021 school year, you could miss benefits from the State, should it decide to provide the Pandemic EBT Benefits again.
Please click here for the Free & Reduced Meal Program applications.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Stacy Reiss, Free & Reduced Lunch Program, at sreiss@qcsd.org or 215-529-2022.
