Salk Seahawk Scoop
Week of 9/18/2022
Seahawk Walk - September 30
There are prizes for both students and classes that raise the most money. The school and PTO use the funds to provide a variety of activities throughout the school year to all of our students.
Visit https://app.99pledges.com/fund/salkelemen1 and search for your student(s) to find their personalized donation page.
On September 30 every student will spend 30 minutes walking in the soccer field next to the school and have the option to participate in a blow up obstacle course. Families are invited to join us from 5:30-7:30 that night for a celebration with pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones and peanuts to purchase. We will also draw winners for the bonus raffle.
M-STEP Spring 2022 Test Results
If your 4th-6th grade child participated in the state of Michigan’s M-STEP assessment in the Spring of 2022, their results were sent home last Friday. The M-STEP allows students to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills while showing their work in an age-appropriate way. In order to interpret your child’s score report, Michigan Department of Education has created a document to assist, which can be found here.
As we learn more about our district’s results, we will be able to make decisions that will help improve instruction. These standardized assessments were administered during a unique year of learning. Regardless of whether your child’s scores improved or declined compared to previous years, students will not be affected in a negative way. We use multiple measures to assess students throughout the school year to identify student strengths and areas of need in order to design instruction accordingly.
Please let us know if you have questions about the M-STEP, Michigan’s learning standards, or your child’s progress overall. Fraser Public Schools provides personalized instruction for our students in order to meet each child’s learning needs, and we appreciate your collaboration in that journey.
