CVUSD Technology Department and DonorsChoose
DonorsChoose has been a very helpful way to get teaching tools into the classrooms across the district. Things such as books, shelving, microscopes, iPads and other technology have all been donated through DonorsChoose to help teachers and students in classrooms.
If you are creating a DonorsChoose project, please get prior approval for technology to ensure that proper hardware can be supported in our district. Many hardware devices need to be secure and safe for students and meet privacy requirements. If you have questions, you can email me or you can submit an IssueTrak for your inquiries. Let us help you get more tech in our classrooms!
**DonorsChoose projects involving technology that are not prior approved may not be supported.
Cord Safety - Be Safe! Cover your cords.
Laptop, Projector, Document Cameras and ChromeBook Replacements
Many of you have inquired about when replacement and new equipment is available for you. We will be pushing out as much new and replacement technology that our budget and your school budget can handle (not as much as we would like). Of course, it will be prioritized on a needs basis, and we will be working with your administrators to determine high priority needs.
If your equipment in your classroom needs a fix or you have trouble operating a device, use IssueTrak (see what makes a good IssueTrak up top).
If you feel that you need NEW or Replacement equipment, you need to talk to your administrator for approval.
In the near future, we will introducing some new technology to the classroom: Digital Document Cameras and 'Teacher Chromebooks' to replace expensive laptops. Pilot teachers will be needed to test our new equipment. Interested? Apply Here
Google Classroom - Verification and Many Updates This Year!
Are you planning on using Google Classroom this year? All teachers must be "verified" before using Google Classroom. Plan ahead and get verification by opening Classroom and choosing "Teacher". Many of you with existing accounts should be already verified.
Google Classroom has announced many changes to their App this year. Stay tuned for exciting changes!
Google Drive Desktop App is being replaced by Google Drive File Stream
Don't Lose your Data! Make sure you UNINSTALL GOOGLE DRIVE DESKTOP BEFORE INSTALLING DRIVE FILE STREAM!
Google Drive just got easier for you and your team
We’re pleased to announce Drive File Stream, a new application for your Mac or PC. Use Drive File Stream to access all your Google Drive files from your computer while using less disk space and decreasing sync time.
How does it work?
With Drive File Stream, you can:
- Quickly see all your Google Drive files in Finder/Explorer (including Team Drives).
- Browse and organize Google Drive files without downloading all of them to your computer.
- Choose which files or folders you'd like to make available offline.
- Open files in common apps like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop.
How do I get started?
Visit the Drive Help Center to install Drive File Stream and get started.
Google Team Drive
Many of you have seen the pop-up for Google Team Drive. It was activated and ready for you to use.
The Google Team Drive gives ownership to the "Team" rather than an individual. It works well for a "School Staff Drive", "3rd grade Drive" or "PBIS Drive". It works well when team members might be interchangeable.
