There's a lot of illness going around...
We have been experiencing a lot of illness amongst students and staff lately here at SSS. There are many respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses that are easily transmitted in a school environment. Staying home when sick can significantly reduce outbreaks and decrease disruptions to learning that occur when large numbers of students and staff at a school become ill. Practising proper handwashing, using hand sanitizer when washing is not possible, avoiding sharing of food and beverages, and coughing and sneezing into your elbow or away from others, can also help reduce the spread of illness in our schools.

Virtual Grad Parent Meeting
There was a virtual Grad parent meeting on Thursday, November 3rd. An email was sent Friday, November 4th recapping everything that was discussed in the meeting to all parents of Grade 12 students. If you are a parent of a Grade 12 student and did not receive this information through email, please email Mrs. Thompson at email@example.com and let her know so that we can correct the contact list.
Also, parents, if you have not yet filled out our contact information survey yet please do so now. This survey (click here to go to survey: https://forms.gle/CtFKcE3oqD16GhaN7) gathers your contact information so that you receive all information about grad activities and important deadlines.

Still I Rise Online Event November 24th!
The idea for ‘Still I Rise’ initially came to be in December 2020, when an insightful EAS team member working primarily in the Treaty 8 region recognized the need for Indigenous youth to receive messages of hope, perseverance and resilience in a time of uncertainty. From there, the concept of a free virtual student event was born. This event set out to offer messages of inspiration from Indigenous influencers and friends from our Ever Active Schools community.
We are thrilled with the success of this event and excited to watch it grow and have a positive impact on a national level. Still I Rise is for all grade 6-12 youth in Canada and the event serves as an excellent opportunity to support Indigenous and non-Indigenous students alike in walking together towards reconciliation.
Please contact Mrs. Thompson if you would like to be part of this online event and register online here.
