Week 2, Term 4

Principal's Message

Welcome back to our last term of 2022! This very short eight and a half week term has plenty of events so please keep yourself informed by reading your emails and checking your SchoolApp notifications. Our school calendar is updated with all events and available on our website as well as on SchoolAppsNz. If you need clarity around any of the events please ask Geraldine or your child’s teacher.

We had a very successful Ag Day/Pet Show Day/Flower Show Day last Friday and thankfully the weather was extremely kind to us. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the organisation and for helping on the day; we couldn’t do it without you all. We loved having our families join us for the day and the sense of ‘normality’ is really starting to settle in.

We encourage you all to pop into classes and have a look at what your child has been learning. Please feel free to come into the school grounds at drop off and pickup; we miss seeing groups of people catching up in the courtyard or outside of the classrooms.

Production planning is in full swing and we are getting so excited about performing to our community. Thank you to all of those who have offered to support with props and costume making; our students are super lucky. Don’t forget to purchase your tickets via Kindo and the option to purchase the video recording is on Kindo too. The final evening performance will be professionally recorded by Simon at CreateVideo. A very special thank you to Rachel Hogarty and Rebecca Silcock, who are bringing this show to life for all of us.

Have a safe and relaxing weekend.

Ngaa mihi

Sun Safety Message for Term 4

Our Sun Safety Policy requires all students in Term 4 to wear a hat when playing outside and wear clothes that protect their shoulders. Sunblock is available in every classroom for children to reapply throughout the day. If students forget their hat, they will be required to sit under the shaded area near the hall so please remind them frequently.

‘Seeing is Believing’ Pilot Programme

We’re super excited to be one of 20 schools in New Zealand to take part in the Paralympics New Zealand ‘Seeing is Believing’ Pilot. The goal of Seeing is Believing is to change perceptions of disability through the lens of Paralympians, Para athletes and the Paralympic Movement. Seeing is Believing will connect with disabled and non-disabled tamariki, their teachers and kaiako, and whānau. The tamariki will also have a chance to meet a Harvey Norman Para Sport Champion, Anna Taylor. The Pilot will run through term 4 and all our Senior Team classes are involved. You can read more about it on https://paralympics.org.nz/seeing-is-believing/
