Out of the Box Math
Hilliard Middle-Senior High School Algebra 2 Honors class created boxes by cutting squares out of paper and taping up the sides. We then plotted the size of the square with the volume of the boxes. We found that a cubic polynomial could model the data.
Cyber Secure
Yulee High School teachers attend training for using DUO to increase cyber security.
Creative Writing Challenge
During a creative writing challenge unit, West Nassau High School students were assigned to write an instructional essay that required them to give detailed steps to blow a bubble with bubble gum. Not only were they to use as much detail as possible, but humor and sarcasm were encouraged to make the essay more creative and light-hearted. The culminating activity was peer reviewing an anonymous essay (through Canvas "peer review") while "testing" the accuracy of instructions- making sure to follow every step to the detail. Of course, only the best bubble gum was used for our "study." The students had a blast!
Virtual Bingo Night
Families and students at Yulee Elementary participated in our third annual Virtual BINGO night! Families logged on to the event and were able to play multiple rounds of BINGO with Mr. Cubbal. It was a great event; even Santa dropped by to get in on the BINGO fun!
Reading Under the Stars
Callahan Intermediate School students enjoyed a night of reading under the stars. Students played Bingo for Books, listened to books by the campfire, took AR tests, and enjoyed hotdogs.
Classroom Visitor
Mrs. Fancher's second graders at Wildlight Elementary had a special visitor who joined her class. The Grinch showed up on December 1st and is visiting her classroom for help. The Grinch needs her students' help to make his heart grow. It's up to them to complete the daily kindness tasks and show the Grinch how to be kind. One of the tasks this week was giving candy canes to as many people as possible. Mrs. Fancher's class went on a quick field trip around the school to hand out candy canes to all the exceptional faculty and staff!
