PROGRESS REPORTS
Students will bring home progress reports on Monday. Students with markings of "failing" or "in danger of failing" will also have progress reports sent home via US mail. Parents can always check students grades live on Skyward Family Access.
LAST EARLY RELEASE
Monday, May 16th is the final Monday 40 minute early release. For the remainder of the school year, school will end at 3:45 for all school days. The last two days of school are a 2 hour early release (June 15 & 16).
START/END TIMES NEXT YEAR
Next year all middle schools are planning to transition back to “normal” with start/end times of 9:00-3:30. Please plan accordingly for next year.
CLOSED CAMPUS
Discovery is a closed campus. This means students are not permitted on campus until 8:45 AM. Students must also leave campus by 4:00 PM in the afternoon unless they are involved in an after school event/practice. During the school day, only students are permitted on campus. Students may not leave campus without permission from parents/guardians.
FIELD DAY
Thursday, June 16th is our final day of school. After lunch, all grades will participate in a field day experience outside. This is also a 2-hour early release from school. Please have your child dress for the weather. We will be outside rain or shine.
COUNSELOR NEWS
7th graders have a fantastic opportunity to join the Eureka program through Girls, Inc. This program offers free summer camps, paid internships, and more! Check out their website or contact Ms. Bledsoe to learn more and sign up.
8TH GRADE END OF YEAR ASSEMBLY
8th grade families are invitied to join us the morning of Thursday, June 16th (last day of school) to recognize our 8th graders. We will be handing out awards, watching a slide show and honoring our 8th grade students as they transition to high school.
5TH GRADE FAMILY NIGHT
Is your child going to Discovery Middle School next year? Please save the date for our family information night on Wednesday, June 1st, at Discovery Middle School. 6:00-7:30 PM. We will share some information and provide a tour of our school. We can't wait to meet our future Wildcat Families!

FRESHMAN INFO NIGHT AT BAY
Bay is hosting their Open House for incoming freshman on June 2nd, from 5:00-6:30 PM. Students can drop in at any time to take a tour of the school, learn about the different sports, clubs, and/or activities we offer, and even have a hot dog. Here is a link to an info-graphic
FUTURE TRAPPER NIGHT @ FORT
Come visit Fort Vancouver High School on Tuesday, May 24th from 6:00-7:30 PM. They will be showcasing clubs, sports and activities for incoming freshman and their families. Food will be provided.
PAN Y LECHE
We will be having our Pan y Leche bilingual event on Monday May 16th from 9:30-10:30AM. We will be discussing all things Running Start as we will have Clark College present that information.
PARENT FAMILY LEADERSHIP
Parent advisory groups are held monthly, in-person at the Bates Center for Educational Leadership, 2921 Falk Rd., Vancouver, WA 98661. The group will run between 9:30-11:00AM. Interpreters will be available. Our next session will be Wednesday, May 18th. If you can please join us in our conversation, our topic will be about equity. We hope to see you there!
COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL
We will be hosting our monthly meeting with the principal on Wednesday, May 18th from 2:30-3:30PM in-person at Discovery Middle School. We hope to see you there!
iREADY SPRING WINDOW
During the weeks of May 23rd & 30th, students will begin taking the Spring iReady assessment. This will be completed in Reading & Math to track students growth over the year. Students participate in this assessment 3 times a year from Kinder-9th grade. You can check in with your child's English and/or Math teacher for more information about your child's progress.
YEARBOOK PURCHASING
Pre-order your 2021-22 Yearbook now!!! Books can be purchased in-person at the Business Office or Online through Vancouver Public Schools Online Payment System @ https://wa-vancouver.intouchreceipting.com/signin The books are $20.00 each. We expect the books in late May/early June. Wildcat TV will have all the details when the books arrive.

HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING INFORMATION
Interested in High School Swim Team? Come to our Summer Workout Meeting!
Monday, May 23, 7pm at Propstra Aquatic Center
If you'll be attending Fort Vancouver or Hudson's Bay HS in the fall, this meeting is for you! New & returning swimmers should come to this meeting to get the summer workout schedule. Parents welcome too.
Summer workouts run May 30-July 29. We will be swimming, lifting weights & fundraising over the summer. Summer training is optional, but is a great way to get in shape and get to know the team.

PANORAMA SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SURVEY
Students, staff and parents are all invited to take the Panorama survey next week. Students will take this survey for the second time in their academic elective courses at some point next week. This was also taken in the fall. Included Email attachments from April.
SUMMER ARTS WORKSHOPS
This summer, artists may participate in a variety of activities, including dance, acting, music and the visual arts. All opportunities are offered free to students currently enrolled in Vancouver Public Schools. Learn more. Registration forms attached below.
