Update
As mentioned in the previous News Flash, a range of new and exciting projects have started/continued are getting tweaked.
Some of these include:
Infrastructure
Devices
Our Year 5-6 students will be entering the School Owned Notebook Program during the couple of weeks of students returning. Followed by Year 4 a few weeks later.
During the first term we will also be looking at possible device options for PP-3. More information to come on this.Office 365
We have moved to Office 365 during the holidays. This basically means that the office suite will be cloud based, allowing for easy collaboration no matter where you are.
Professional Development during the Term on this.
Office 365 - One Drive
One drive will be a huge change in assisting with any time access to data storage (essentially what you currently put on the shared drive or your personal drive at school).
Professional Development during the term on this.
Office 365 - OneNote Class Notebook app
The OneNote Class Notebook app is an app that helps teachers set up OneNote for their classes. This app creates a class notebook, which includes three types of sub-notebooks:
Student Notebooks, Content Library, Collaboration Space
Training on this will be provided in the new academic year
Projectors
10 projectors that were at the end of life have been replaced, including in the staff room.
The remainder of the projectors that require replacement will be completed during the Christmas Holidays.
Technology Integrators
Congratulations to Andrea Brown who has been awarded the role of Primary Technology Integrator. Andrea will be assisting staff in the Primary School with up-skilling their ICT skills As well as being a visible role model in her own classroom; taking risks, being innovative and providing opportunities for students to develop 21st century skills.
Makerspace
Makerspaces are primarily places for technological experimentation, hardware development,
and idea prototyping. Both self-directed inventors and creative teams can use this space. This is currently a big buzz around the world. We are looking forward to further exploring this area during the new academic year.
Promoting Technology Resilience
Yes technology can be frustrating!
Many times I have thought about ways of hurting my computer, the way it hurts me sometimes! But you brush yourself off and try again.
This academic year we will be promoting Technology Resilience. A breed of ISWA staff that are willing to take risks, explore and role model creative, innovative, problem solving skills with ICT. And more importantly demonstrate to students we are all Technology Resilient.
Co-curricular
Andrea Brown will be running ISWA's first coding club for her Co-curricular Primary School Students. If you are looking for ideas/inspiration/a new challenge, please come and see me for possible ICT/STEM options.
ICT Committee
An ICT Committee with the purpose of assisting in the coordination of the implementation of PP-12 ICT integration within the school. We will be looking at digital citizenship, ICT competencies, Professional Development to name a few.
Keyboarding
ICT Learning Journey
As lifelong learners, we have a responsibility to our students, students’ parents, our employer, the AITSL standards and most importantly ourselves to be the best teachers that we can be.
We are looking forward to working with the ISWA staff in developing each individuals own " ICT Learning Journey".
