October is halfway through and the ghosts and ghouls are preparing for Halloween Night!

In next week's 10/22 Thursday Folder, please look for our Halloween Guidelines so you are aware of procedures for the parade and parties.

Buckingham is making preparations to celebrate Halloween with a Parade Celebration held on Friday, October 30th. We hope you will be able to join us for the morning parade beginning at 9:30AM - outdoors (weather permitting). Please dress appropriately for all weather conditions. If weather becomes a factor, a morning email announcement will send an update.

As per PA State CHILD ABUSE Guidelines, ALL SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS MUST HAVE THEIR VOLUNTEER CLEARANCES ON FILE WITH CB HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT. Class Party Food drop-off will take place from 8:30AM-9:30AM and 1:00PM-2:00PM on the 30th. If you have refrigerated items, please bring during the Afternoon 1:00PM time. Secondly, only parent Halloween party volunteers (with clearances) will gain access to classrooms during our afternoon parties. More information will be shared by your classroom's Parent Homeroom Coordinator about class needs for the 30th.

No GLASS Water Bottles or Containers

Parents - Please do not send any "Glass" Containers/Water Bottles into school. We have had a few "accidents" as glass containers are falling/breaking on the hard floor surfaces in the cafeteria and classrooms. It requires immediate clean-up and poses a dangerous situation for other children. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Volunteer Process - If You Need to SIGN-UP - READ BELOW!

If you have already submitted your information to the District - you do not need to have any further paperwork.

All NEW Volunteers - Please go to the website to complete the online process for submission of volunteer paperwork. The link and a quick video explaining how to do this, in order to make it more user friendly, is available here: http://www.cbsd.org/Page/355.

Parent Volunteers, you do not need to go to the Ad Center as they no longer accept clearances at the building. New volunteers simply upload onto the website and receive a volunteer pass in the mail after they have completed all steps.

"Parent Portal" Reminder

The Central Bucks School District uses Infinite Campus as its student information system. The Parent Portal allows parents/guardians to view schedules, attendance, immunizations, and assessment information. Parents can also update demographic information for their family. The Parent Portal is open. For more information on the parent portal please visit the CBSD web site, or contact Mrs. Petrie at 267.893.4200.

All elementary school parents will also be able to view, print, and/or save their child’s 1st Marking Period progress report directly from the Parent Portal.

This is an incredibly unique and special activity for Buckingham Elementary as we border the wonderful "Neighbors" at None-Such Farm! "Thank you" to None-Such for their hospitality and efforts!

On Monday, October 5 - Buckingham Primary students attended a special assembly on fire prevention and safety - hosted by the Midway Volunteer Fire Company. Children listened to local Firefighters review safety standards and expectations in cases of real emergencies. Then, they were able to see the specially designed fire truck and how it works to save lives! Thanks to Midway Volunteer Fire Company for their time and dedication to our community!

Buckingham Garden Harvest

Students in our 5th and 6th Grade Classrooms did their fall preparations in the Buckingham Garden before the winter months. The work completed by our students in the spring and the "adopted garden families" led by Jill Jankowski and Leslie Yodis throughout summer provided for a beautiful harvest in October! Students worked on cleaning the beds and using compost from our composting pit. Thanks to all the students and families who helped our efforts!

Book Fair Thank You

A MONSTROUS “Thank You” to the students, families, staff, and volunteers involved with the Fall Book Fair. Our Monster theme had the students and staff excited to visit the fair and see the furry creatures lurking amongst the books. The vast selection of books provided an opportunity for all readers to find something that they found interesting. The Classroom Wish List program provided children and their families the opportunity to donate books to help build our teachers libraries. Our library was able to add over 70 new titles to their shelves that our children will now be able to access due to the success of the Book Fair.

Many thanks to Mrs. Kraus and Mrs. Diodati for allowing us the use of the library to host the Fair as well as their tireless, hands-on support. Congratulations to all of our Raffle winners: Student Guessing Game Raffle: Sylvia Padin-Jimenez, Family Raffle Basket: Kathleen Campbell, and Teacher Raffle: Mrs. Rosztoczy.

Feel GROOVY this Spring, when “Peace, Love and Books” come to our library for our Spring Scholastics Book Fair. Coming March 2016!
