Health Information Update Regarding Field Trips and Extra Curricular Activities
Monday, March 9, 2020 -
Trussville City Schools administrators review recommendations each day from the Center for Disease control as we consider activities involving student travel. So far, the CDC has not recommended cancelling trips unless they involve international travel or cruise ships. However, we check the CDC website for updates 2 -3 times daily to be sure we have the latest information.
We are also in contact with the State Department of Education and Jefferson County Health Department for any state or local updates. Today, we are conducting business as usual with increased hand washing and additional preventive facility measures. If any school or extracurricular schedules need to be changed, we will send mass information to all parents, faculty and staff through normal parent contact procedures.

Friday, April 17th, 2020 in the HTMS gymnasium at 2:00 pm
Student Entry - $3.00 or $10.00 tshirt includes entry fee
Parents and spectators - $5.00 each
Hewitt-Trussville Middle School is proud to announce the arrival of our Fifteenth Annual Charity Basketball Game. The event is a school wide activity that includes a variety of athletic teams and student organizations. The past games have benefited many worthy charities. In total, our students have raised over $74,000 for different organizations through the years.
This year’s games will benefit Neighborhood Bridges. This organization works to help fulfill the needs of students in Trussville City Schools. School counselors collect a list of needs for the students in their respective schools and notify the Neighborhood Bridges organization. Neighborhood Bridges then contacts a list of volunteers for donations to meet the needs of these students. Through our donation to Neighborhood Bridges, we will give our HTMS counselors a source of funds to pull from to help students in our own school that are in need.
Please contact Kaitlin.bowman@trussvillecityschools.com if you have questions

ITS COMING.....2020 Census Invitations Arrive March 12-20
Shape our children's future. Start with the 2020 Census.
Ninety-five percent or about 143 million households in the country will receive an initial invitation to respond to the 2020 Census in their mailboxes between March 12 and 20.
Households are encouraged to respond when they receive their invitation.
All invitations will include a short phrase in English and 12 additional languages inviting people to respond online or by phone in their language. All households receiving an invitation in the mail will receive a second letter in the mail shortly after reminding them to respond. Then, households that still haven’t responded will receive a series of additional reminders, including a paper questionnaire in mid-April. Census takers will follow up with households that don’t respond to collect responses in person.
Responding to the 2020 Census is an easy, safe, and important way to help provide resources for children and their communities for the next 10 years. Everyone living in the US is asked to complete a sample questionnaire every ten years that asks for basic information about the people who live or sleep in their home. Children under the age of five, however, are often missed.
Responding to the census is easier than ever. You can complete the census questionnaire online, by phone or by mail.
Start shaping their future by going to 2020census.gov
