HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 3 Week 3 August 9 2019
FROM MARK
Dear Parents/Guardians
As we live busy lives we can never forget that this invitation is real and welcomes all of us to engage.
What a wonderful celebration to honour St Dominic! Today has been about giving thanks in prayer and in our thoughts and actions. The Dominican tradition and charism is central to our school’s way of being when we Make Jesus Real. Thank you to everyone involved in this beautiful, reverent, celebratory event.
Next week’s newsletter will come to you on Thursday as we are closed for Friday August 16 and Monday August 19. Our student free days are aligned with those of Newman College.
Thursday August 15 is a holy day of obligation. It is the Feast of the Assumption. We honour this day with a whole school mass, beginning at 9am. Mass will be led by Year Four. Please do join us if you can.
Do not forget to vote for our local hero Bec Watson. This is a BIG DEAL. Please vote and encourage as many of your friends and family to do so as well for our Siena children.
VOTE NOW: http://tiny.cc/relgaz
Voting closes on Monday for Bec as a Westfield Local Hero. Last chance to vote and share with friends. The $10,000 grant for will help get the Sway Fund Glider over the line!
Have a great weekend

SCIENCE
Science Week starts Monday 12th and the theme this year is "Destination Moon"
Today Mr Spriggins launched our Science Week theme with his wonderful rocket show!
There are a great many activities all over Perth to take your inspired children to - here are just some of them:
LIBRARY
Book Week is in week 5, with our famous Holy Rosary Book Week Parade being held on Friday morning 23rd August upstairs in the gym. The theme this year is “Reading is my Secret Power” and as always, children are encouraged to dress as their favourite book character using items they already have at home. They don’t have to dress to the theme as our favourite book character is usually our hero, and reading books gives us so many powers including knowledge, relaxation and imagination among so many other things. Parents and siblings are welcome to watch the parade and are invited into the library to view the Book Week Class Art afterwards. Thank you as always for your support of literacy and Book Week at HR.
