WHAT WE ARE LEARNING...
Thank you to all who came out to Parent Teacher Conferences! I appreciate your support and your desire to see your children succeed.
We have enjoyed reading the book, "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio this fall. It is a book made into a movie which comes out on November 17th.
Math: Chapter 4 is on how to divide one digit numbers. New vocabulary includes: dividend, divisor, quotient, remainder, multiples, compatible numbers, and the Distributive Property. I am so proud of the hardwork these kiddos have been doing in math!
Social Studies: Last week we talked about the federal and state governments and how they are similar, but have different roles. We've now begun looking at the vice president and lieutenant governor as well as what it means to be a philanthropist.
Writing: Students are wrapping up their explanatory animal writing and will be doing a fun Thanksgiving themed writing next week.
Science: We are continuing to learn about the birth of rocks through the rock cycle, erosion, and natural hazards. Students learned about the "Ring of Fire" and will soon be doing a sugar shaker activity to discuss the concept of weathering.
