September is Library Card Sign-Up Month
Do you have a library card?
September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Atlanta Public Schools (APS) joins with the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System to make sure that our students have the most important school supply of all – a free library card. On Wednesday, September 7th, Oscar Gittemeier, Youth Services Librarian, from Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, East Atlanta Branch will be here outside of the cafeteria from 10:30 to 12:00 to accept applications for a library card. If you or your students do not have one this will be a great opportunity to get one.
Ask Dr. Cartwright for details.

Renaissance Home Connect
Renaissance Home Connect is active, and teachers and media specialists can print out the parent Informational Letters to send home with the students; the letter contains the URL, along with the student’s user name and password. The printable letter can be accessed from the Renaissance Place Home Page under Renaissance Home Connect – Reports.
APS Parents can use Renaissance Home Connect. Parents would go to the APS Home Connect URL https://hosted115.renlearn.com/51385/homeconnect/ and login with their child’s user name and password. When the parent logs into Home Connect, they click Email Setup in the upper right corner, enter their first name and email address, then click Add and Done. An invitation email will be sent to their email address. They will need to open the email and click the link provided within the message to accept the invitation. They will begin to receive emails when the student works in the program.
Parents can view their child’s progress in Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math, and MathFacts in a Flash. Accelerated Reader progress includes average percent correct on quizzes, number of points earned, and results on the last quiz. Parents have the option to set up and receive email notifications in English or Spanish when their child has completed an Accelerated Reader Quiz. Home Connect also provides a list of words learned from taking vocabulary quizzes and results on their latest Vocabulary Practice Quiz. An onscreen bookshelf enables parents and their child to see all the books the child has read and taken an AR quiz. By clicking on a book cover, you can get details on the book such as ATOS or Lexile book level, word count, points, and more. Renaissance Home Connect links to AR BookFinder, the online search tool that makes it easy for parents and students to search for the next AR book to read. In AR BookFinder (as in Renaissance Home Connect), you may choose to see the pages in English or Spanish.
