PCMS WEEKLY UPDATE
November 8, 2019
It’s hard to believe we are already one week into November! With Thanksgiving and the holidays growing near, we would like to take a moment to tell you just how thankful we are that you allow us to teach and work with your child(ren) each day. Working in a school that serves over 700 students and over 70 adults, it’s easy to overlook all of the wonderful things which happen each and every day - the things that make us so proud to be here doing what we do! We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
#PCMSProud Moments
Our Annual Veteran's Day Breakfast is Monday!
PCMS is calling all Veterans, active duty, and reserve military personnel! The students and staff at PCMS would like to express our thanks for your service to our country by inviting you to the PCMS 14th Annual Veteran’s Day Breakfast! Please join us on Mon, Nov 11 at 7am in the cafeteria. Following breakfast, we will hold a short assembly in the gym from 7:45-8:30am. To all past and present military personnel - thanks for all you do!
***Parents - Please help us by spreading the word to all Veterans, active duty, and reserve military personnel! (They don’t need to have a student attending PCMS. All are welcome!) Help us fill our cafeteria with these heros!
NCC Open House - Thurs, Nov 14 from 4:30-7:30
The Northland Career Center (NCC) is hosting an open house for current 8th, 9th, and 10th-grade students on Thurs, Nov 14 from 4:30-7:30pm. This Open House is an excellent opportunity for our 8th-graders to learn more about the programs NCC can offer them once they are in high school. Students and parents will be able to interact with current NCC students & staff, participate in labs, and tour the building. A chili dinner will be provided to those who attend!
8th Grade Transition Day at PCHS - Fri, Nov 15
It's time to start thinking about high school course choices! To assist the Class of 2024 with course planning, students will visit Platte County High School on Fri, Nov 15 for information about Freshman course choices and a tour of the school. Students will have the opportunity to hear about course choices and identify possible course selections, but will not enroll in courses on that day. Parents will be invited to the annual information meeting in Jan, and course enrollment will happen in Feb.
If you have questions about 8th Grade Transition Day, please contact Kim Schank, 8th-grade counselor at PCMS (schankk@platteco.k12.mo.us).

Please Complete the PCR-3 Parent Survey by Dec 1
The Platte County School District is conducting its annual parent survey to gather feedback on strengths of the district, as well as areas to consider for growth. We want to make sure every parent is heard so we can make meaningful improvements in our District and schools.
If you have not already, we ask that you complete the survey by clicking on the link below. If you have more than one student, please be sure to answer those questions for each building. The survey should take approximately fifteen minutes or less to complete.
