Hi Aspen Families!

Here are some updates and important information for the upcoming week:

No School- 9/6 and 9/7

Please note that school will be closed on Monday, September 6th in obsevrance of Labor Day and Tuesday, September 7th in observcance of Rosh Hashana.

Annual Updates

If you have not yet completed your student's Annual Updates in your Q Parent Connection Portal, the District has extended the cut off date until 9/10/21. Please log on at your earliest convenience to complete the required Annual Updates. These are required each year and include updating or confirming your address and contact information, emergency contacts, updating any important health conditions, and accepting and verifying the Acknowledgments and Permissions. School Site Council (SSC)

We are seeking parents to serve on School Site Council (SSC). This is an elected two year term position. One of the primary functions of SSC is to develop, monitor, and evaluate the school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Those who are interested in serving can contact Stacey Coombe, our Office Manager, to have your name added to the election ballot for the September 8, 20201 meeting.

Parent Representatives Needed

We are looking for parents to serve as representatives on our district's Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) committee and District English Learner Advisory Council (DELAC). Please email me if you are interested in serving as an Aspen parent representative on one of these committees. Please know that there is a commitment to attend their monthly meetings.

Interested in Being a Campus Safety Assistant?

We are still looking for any interested adults to work morning or afternoon shifts to cover our recess, lunch, and afternoon recess shifts. Please contact Stacey Coombe, our Office Manager, if you are interested in this opportunity!

Water Bottles

Please remember to send your child to school each day with a water bottle labeled with their first and last name. Hydration stations around campus can be used as water refill stations.

PFA Announcements

Coffee & Conversation with Mr. Craven plus a PFA Meet & Greet

When: September 8th, 2021 @ 8:15am

Where: Aspen Elementary Courtyard (1870 Oberlin Ave, Thousand Oaks, CA)

Join Mr. Craven in the Aspen Courtyard on September 8th, 2021 @ 8:15am for a coffee chat. The PFA will be providing coffee from Starbucks and some light snacks. Get to know the new principal and meet some PFA members. Find out what’s new at our school, ask questions about our programs, and hear about ways you can get involved. This will also be a great opportunity to purchase some spirit wear if you didn’t get a chance to pick up a shirt during our Ice Cream Social.

19/20 and 20/21 Yearbooks

If you forgot to order your yearbook for 2019-2020 and/or 2020-2021, you're in luck! We have some left over for sale:

2019-2020- we have 16 left- $20 each

2020-2021- we have only 2 left- $25 each

Box Tops

Thank you for continuing to play the Box Tops Game! We have earned over $4000 in a very short time. We can raise up to $20,000 with this amazing limited time opportunity!

School Cents

The School Cents Program has begun! School Cents is a competition between Aspen and other local schools. Every time you shop or dine at The Oaks Mall from September 1 through April 30, we can earn up to $2,500 for Aspen! Right now they are running their best promotion of the year. We get 50 points for every dollar spent until October 31! To help raise money for Aspen, please drop your Oaks receipts in the new School Cents Box in the office. Or you can visit oaks/ and follow the instructions to submit your receipts. You can also email an image of your receipt to and we will submit it for you.
