Kinder Cubs Newsletter
Week Thirty Two: May 10 - May 14
Happy Mother's Day to all of our moms! Your children adore you and we are so grateful for all that you do to support them and us. We are looking forward to continuing our 26 day countdown this week!
For ELA, we will continue to revisit short vowel sounds and dive into long vowels. Understanding when and why a vowel is short or long can be tricky, so we encourage you to continue this discussion at home whenever you read with your child. During Math, we will continue our focus on subtraction by decomposing numbers up to twenty. We will challenge your children by working on subtraction problems up to twenty. We have so many fun, hands-on activities planned for this concept!
During asynchronous learning times, we will encourage your child to practice previously introduced content using the resources below. We have included these for you as well if you would like to review these concepts with your child. If you have any questions, please let us know!
Last but not least, we want to reinforce our mantra of the power of play. Kindergarten is a time of great academic development. It is also a time when children form and solidify connections with their peers, develop social skills, and strengthen their ability to communicate their observations and thoughts. Play is an integral part of our day, as it nurtures social and emotional development. During this week at home, we encourage the balance of academic development with social and emotional development through play.
The end of the school year is quickly approaching! To celebrate an awesome year of Kindergarten, we will celebrate with an ABC countdown. For the last 26 days of Kindergarten, we will review a letter each day with a fun activity.
