K-2 Read Aloud! Think Aloud! Write Aloud
Effective read alouds support oral language, comprehension, vocabulary, and overall literacy development. Using the Gradual Release of Responsibility, we will model an extended read aloud lesson targeting grade level standards as well as student thinking and comprehension. We will explore the research behind the value of read alouds as well as provide resources to support the continued use of read alouds in the classroom.
Participants will need to bring at least two picture books/read alouds to use as we walk through building a week-long intentional read aloud lesson for immediate classroom implementation.

Dyslexia: Evidence-Informed Assessment and Practices
Dyslexia impacts an estimated 5-20% of the population. While dyslexia exists on a continuum from mild to severe, it is one of the most prevalent types of a specific learning disability. This session will explore the definition and characteristics of dyslexia and evidence-informed assessment and instructional practices for word recognition, fluency, and spelling. This training is appropriate for general and special educators, instructional coaches, reading specialists, school psychologists and related service providers.
Participants will be expected to complete readings prior to attending and a pre- and post- knowledge survey to earn 1.0 CEU.
