Final Reading Goal Celebration
Free Book Fair!
Our school was grateful to gift 4 books to each student to read over the summer. This gift was made possible via Title One funds. Research says, children who read as few as six books over the summer break can maintain their reading skills at a level achieved in the preceding school year (Allington & McGill-Franzen, 2008). Please be certain to ask your child to show you their new books and encourage them to read his or her new books this summer.
Summer reading loss accounts for at least 80% of the reading achievement gap by ninth grade (Allington & McGill-Franzen, 2009).

Final 5th Grade Walk Around DFES
Thank you for sharing your child with me. It’s been my pleasure to watch their personalities and intellect develop as we learned together. Have a spectacular summer and a rewarding 6th grade year!
