Greetings Mize Families!
I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! We are heading into the week, hoping that we don’t have yet another snow day, as it seems we are beginning to have a repeat of last January. We have a lot happening here at Mize and hope the weather will cooperate to support all of our fun.
On Friday, we will be having our annual PTO BINGO Night from 5:45-8:00. Chris Cakes will be here to provide delicious pancakes for purchase starting at 5:45. We will also have our silent auction items with BINGO beginning at 6:30 PM. I hope that you can join us, as it is always a fun-filled night for all!
Technology is something that we value and appreciate here at Mize. As we all know, technology is becoming more and more accessible to our students and we understand that this means some of our students come to us with devices from home. These devices are convenient and often times lend themselves to immediate communication with your child. While this is important, and something that we definitely respect, please be considerate of your child’s classroom time by contacting the office, if you need to communicate or get immediate information to your child. Texting or receiving messages, especially via watches, often interferes with daily classroom time and/or lessons. It also lends itself to providing disruptions to other students’ classroom learning. Our office staff will happily relay any information to your child or teacher. We appreciate your understanding and assistance in making sure that all of our students are able to make the most of their educational day.
Finally, Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner. You should be receiving information regarding your child’s scheduled conference sometime this week. Please check your child’s backpack or homework folder for this information. Have a wonderful week, everyone!
Kindest Kansas Citian
It is time for the 2020 Kindest Kansas Citian Contest! This contest, sponsored by Synergy Services, is designed to help students define kindness and identify adult role models who demonstrate kind, caring, and respectful behavior that the students would like to emulate in their lives.
Each student is encouraged to submit an essay (students k-5) or drawing (students K-2) identifying an individual, couple, or group who serves as a caring role model in their life. Nominees must be a KC Metro resident, 18 years of age or older, and NOT related to the student. Your child will be bringing home a copy of the entry form and guidelines this week. Entries must be submitted to Mrs. Graham by Tuesday, January 28, 2019.
All participating students and their nominees will be invited to a Kindest Kansas Citian reception held at Mize Elementary in early spring.

Parents and Guardians,
If you are a parent of a child with special needs and are preparing to transition your student to a new school setting within our school district for the 2020-21 school year, the USD 232 Special Services Advisory Committee (SSAC) would like to invite you to attend our Parent Forum on Transition on Tues., 2/25/2020 at 6:30 pm at Mill Creek Middle School.
Our families play an important role in supporting their child with special needs as they navigate different transitions throughout their school careers. At this forum, we will have staff available to share information and answer questions parents may have pertaining to transitions. If you are interested in attending on forum on Feb. 25, please register HERE.
