Heim's Happenings
This week we will continue studying our vocabulary words for our 9 weeks vocabulary test next week. Please make sure your child is studying ELA words on Quizlet through my website.
We are moving along with our novel study Among the Hidden and everyone seems to really be enjoying the book! Students are doing an awesome job with their daily roles/tasks within their literacy groups. I am extremely proud of them.
On Tuesday, we will be heading to the library computer lab to take the RTI Universal Screener for reading. Please make sure to talk to your child about the importance of doing his/her best on this test. On Friday, we will go to the library to check out books before Christmas break...your child should have a fiction or non-fiction book for the book report due after Christmas.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!
Love,
Ms. Heim

Happy Holiday Season! I hope you and yours are all enjoying this wonderful time of the year! There are several important things ahead as we look to wrap up this first semester of 7th grade!
Next Monday, December 11, will be our 2nd Quarter Word Wall Quiz. The words and definitions, along with a quizlet students can use to study them can be found on my school webpage.
Benchmarks will be on Monday, December 18th for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th periods, and on Wednesday, December 20th for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th periods. Students will have a review day on Friday, December 15th for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th periods, and on Tuesday, December 19th for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th periods.
In 7th grade math we are currently working on Ratios and Proportions, and will be determining if a relationship is proportional or not, and if it is proportional what is the constant of proportionality. We then will focus on writing equations for proportional relationships, and recognizing the unit rate and other ordered pairs in a proportional relationship.
Accelerated 7th grade math is currently working on writing equations for proportional relationships, and recognizing the unit rate and other ordered pairs in a proportional relationship.
Please continue to encourage your student to spend time on the iReady computer program. 45 minutes a week is optimal for student growth! If you have any questions regarding this, or where you students can locate the program online, please let me know!
Remember, after winter break, we will begin creating interactive notebooks to organize our math notes and provide students with a resource to be able to review our math concepts. Please go ahead and start sending in composition notebooks if you are able. This should be a great learning resource for our students!
Have a wonderful week!
Spin Class
As most of you have probably heard I was in the hospital this past weekend. I had an emergency appendectomy on Saturday evening. So I am out of school for the next few days. The good thing is that I did not procrastinate and went in before it got really bad. Because of this, I will be back in a few days instead of a few weeks.
The kids are working on Nearpod lessons to hopefully keep up with the other two science classes.
If your child is at home sick and feels like participating in science class they click this link https://share.nearpod.com/vsph/qX9omT6gNu
or go to nearpod.com and use class code UQZER for today's lesson. I will send out the code for absent students for Tomorrow's lesson later this evening.
They all know how to do this. This is a student paced lesson they can do at home on their computer, phone, or tablet.
If you or your student is NOT signed up for the remind service please do so. This is an easy way for me to communicate short messages to you. They come across like a text message. We can even text back and forth, but it doesn't share personal information or real phone numbers.
or you can text the number 81010 and enter the message @spinsci and this will allow you to join that way.

We will also spend time on our Word Wall vocabulary, and that test is on Dec. 14.
