TES Tigers are THRIVERS!
Our schoolwide character focus this month is EMPATHY. In her book, THRIVERS, Dr. Borba describes empathy as having 3 types:
A = Affective Empathy - when we share another's feelings and feel their emotions (like crying for a character during a movie or book)
B = Behavioral empathy - when we are concerned for another and act (do something) to help them (like collecting blankets and clothing for those in need)
C = Cognitive empathy - when we understand another's thoughts or step in their shoes (like describing how a character in a movie or book feels).
This month, our staff will be teaching, recognizing, and modeling cognitive empathy on our campus. Please look at the link below for more ideas on how you can support us and work on building empathy in our students.
