Miss Lotter's Leaders

Parent Newsletter December 7-December 11

Hello Parents!

What a wonderful week we had in fourth grade! As the holiday break gets closer, the kids normally get completely out of control, but I am so proud of how the kids have held it together this week! I hope that I am not jinxing it for this upcoming week! :) We are going to be doing some really neat things the week before break, so you can read more below to see what's going on!

PEEK AT THE WEEK

Math: In math this week, we will wrap up our unit on division.

-We will have a division test this Friday. Students will be given a study guide for this test on Tuesday. Please help your child study for this test!

Language Arts: We will continue accountability in daily five this week! Each day, the students will track their choices and what they accomplished during each round. Students will have the option to listen to reading, read to someone, read to self, work on words, and work on writing.

-We are focusing on how to write a well constructed response using evidence from the text. We will complete a mini art and literacy project to demonstrate that learning this week. We will also be practicing these skills as we learn about holidays around the world!

In writing, we will continue our unit on opinion writing.

Science: We are going to be starting our unit on electricity. This is a short unit and we will have a brief quiz on Friday. The study guide notes for this quiz will be in your child's interactive science notebooks.

LEADER OF THE WEEK

Our leader of the week is Derontae' Patton! He has done a really great job this week of stepping up and being a leader in our classroom. He calmly addressed a problem in class in a professional way and led his classmates in finding a solution. He also discovered this week that he has an awesome talent for coding! I am very proud of how far Derontae' has come and excited to see how far he goes this year. Great job Derontae'!

WHAT IS GOING ON IN ROOM 312?

We have done some pretty cool things this week! We participated in the Hour of Code with Mrs. Eggett, participated in the storytelling festival, researched the Biltmore Estate to prepare for our upcoming field trip, explored magnets, and much more! I did not get to take as many pictures as normal, but please check out what we have done this week!
