GJH competes at Jr. VASE

Gainesville Junior High art students competed at the Junior VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event. Junior VASE is a regional event hosted by Texas Art Educators.At the competition, they participated in an interview and critique about their artwork in front of a juror. Ten GJH students competed in the contest and three earned medals and all earned high ratings, with 4 being the highest.

Spanish Spelling Bee

GISD announced the first annual Spanish Spelling Bee, which will be held on May 23rd at 9am at the GISD administration building. Students in first through eighth grade are eligible to compete in campus bees and earn advancement to the district bee. The Chalmers Spanish Spelling Bee was held on Tuesday, April 16. The students who chose to participate first competed against their classmates, in which the top students earned advancement to the campus spelling bee. The top three per grade level will compete at the district bee on May 23rd. We are happy to offer this exciting opportunity for our students!

GHS qualified five girls and three boys to the State powerlifting meets that were held in March. At the Board meeting Monday night, the state qualifiers and the powerlifting coaches were recognized for the great accomplishments this year.

The April Students of the Month received the Leopard Pride award at the Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, April 15. The students were nominated by their teachers for their leadership, compassion for others, making good choices, and for setting a good example for their classmates.

Girls Golf Team Advances to Regionals

The Lady Leopard golf team has advanced to the Regional golf tournament at Van Zandt Country Club in Canton on April 24th and 25th. The team of five (Madison Stephens, Candance Stephens, Kacie Magallanes, Brittney Magallanes, and Kimberly Gomez) took second place at the district golf tournament. Great job ladies!

Pre-K is on the hunt for Easter eggs! We are thankful to have some dry "grass" after the rain last night!

Q & U...happily ever after!

Today, the kindergarten QUeens and QUarterbacks were invited to attend the wedding of Q&U! Every time a Q is found, a U is right by its side. They are married and live happily ever after!
