Principal Newsletter

From the Desk of Mrs. Riley

November 1, 2018

Dear Parents,

Happy November! We begin this month with the celebration of All Saints Day! We held our annual Saints Parade and attended Mass as a school community. It was a wonderful celebration of our faith! In this month of Thanksgiving, I give thanks for the amazing faculty, parents, and students of Our Lady of Good Counsel School.

Some happenings this week:

  • The completion of the Whiteboard Installation took place this week! There are no more blackboards in the building. Every classroom is now equipped with whiteboards adding a new, fresh, clean look throughout the building. Many thanks to P.I.E. and all of those who supported last year's fundraisers which enabled this transformation to happen.
  • Re-registration is off to a great start! So many families are taking advantage of the 50% discount on the fee and registering early. This discount will last until November 30th. If you are registering a preschooler, please act quickly as it is already filling up. This early registration will allow us to determine how many classrooms of each grade will be needed.
  • Our Thanksgiving Service Project is well underway. Thank you to all of those parents who signed up at conference time for a donation to the classroom food basket. Turkeys have been hung outside every classroom and students may purchase feathers with their name on it for $1 to be added to the turkey. On November 16th, the classroom with the most feathers will win a pizza party. The money raised will be used to purchase turkeys for the class basket. Those baskets will then be donated to a family in need.
  • We have officially kicked off our Phillies Phanatic About Reading Program. OLGC has entered a contest to bring the Phillie Phanatic to our school. We need to log as many reading hours as possible. Each student will be given a log to record the number of minutes/hours spent reading. We will also be holding many exciting events each week during school to help build this time.
  • As classes begin to schedule field trips, please be reminded that any parent who would like to attend and be a chaperone must be in compliance with all required clearances. Please check out the school website under Volunteer Information for details on what is required, as well as links.

Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!

Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.

God’s Peace,

Mrs. Barbara Riley

Principal
