🏫What are Community Schools?🏫
“[An equity] strategy for organizing the resources of the school and community around student success…”
Improving how we do schools: bringing everyone to the table to share decision making, building bridges, and supporting our students and family needs!
👓Community Schools In Action!👓
(Below) Supporting our Communities: our Community Partner Vision to Learn's Mobile Unit outside of Mission Elementary for vision screenings and eye exams 9/23/22.
Organizing vision resources to our Community Schools!
🎵"I Can See Clearly Now"🎵
Through a community partner, Vision to Learn, we have been able to screen all opted-in students already at four of our Community School sites so far. An average of 29% of students need an eye exam/glasses, that is over 430+ students!
Organizing our efforts to bridge the gap for vision services, Vision to Learn brings their Mobile Optometrist Unit onto school campus. This convenience is saving families from having to take time off work and saving students from having to interrupt their learning and get pulled out of school. And the best part is: ALL 430+ students that need glasses are getting them for FREE!
Being able to see will help students' learning and their wellbeing. This partnership and service is a huge success that is benefitting the whole-child educational experience. Thank you Vision to Learn and everyone involved in making this happen!
