Students spent time this week revising their memoirs. Students will publish their memoirs and reflect on their writing process next week. Students must finish their personal reading books by Monday, November 18. As always, thank you for encouraging your child to read at home regularly. If you would like to support our classroom library, please visit our class Amazon Wish List.
Science- Mrs. Kenney
This week in science, we continued with our Forces and Interactions Unit and with our Bullseye Summative Project. Students worked on designing, testing, and modifying ping pong launchers following the engineering design process. Instructions and the scoring guide are online in Google Classroom. Students should be completing reflections each day. This will be a summative grade. We will complete the project on Monday. Then, students will have a test over all of our Forces and Interactions Unit. If you would like to support our classroom projects, we would greatly appreciate donations of duct tape, hot glue sticks, and glue sticks. Thank you!
Social Studies- Mr. Ward
This week in social studies, students took notes over the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation. Once we have completed our notes over both of these documents, students will take a quiz covering both. After we have completed our study of the Declaration of Independence and Articles of Confederation we will look at the Constitution. Through the Constitution, students will learn about the structure and function of the government.
ETC
Starting next Monday, the Green Team will be participating in Jug Wars. Jug wars are a way for our team to collect funds for a needy family for the upcoming holiday seasons. We will be asking students to bring in money to donate to this needy family. We will begin to collect money on Monday 11/18 and stop on Friday 12/13. There will be a friendly competition between the Green Team teachers’ first-hour class to see who can raise the most funds for our family.
