The Sahel is a part of Africa that separates the desert areas from the wetter areas of Africa. On the right is an image of where the Sahel is located.
Sahel Environment
The Sahel is known for strong climate variations and irregular rainfalls. Also the environment is good for animals and plant growth. The Sahel is 1,178,850 sq miles stretching from the Red Sea to the Atlantic Ocean.
Animals in the Sahel
Elephants and giraffes are more frequently seen in the Sahel than many other animals. The Zebu, warthog and the Senegal gerbil are also seen commonly in the Sahel.
