CBA Elementary Weekly Newsletter
September 6, 2021
Hello CBA Community!
The 2021-2022 school year is underway! We were so excited to see so many smiling faces this past week. Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we worked through the bumps along the way. Now, we didn’t expect a weather related closure but, as expected, we all came together and we made it through a very uncertain 36 hours. We are very thankful that our community remained safe and was minimally impacted by the the storm.
Next week, specialty classes, after-care and the lunch program begin. Our teachers have planned a great week, full of academics and instruction. We are looking forward to officially getting started! Please be sure to check the September calendar below for updates and reminders.
Unfortunately, we are not immune to the staffing problems facing many schools and businesses across the country. We are beginning our year without a PE teacher and a Spanish teacher. We are actively interviewing and are hopeful that the positions will be filled shortly. If you know of anyone looking for a career in either field, please send them our way.
In the meantime, Spanish instruction will be led by our classroom teachers, using two well-known and effective platforms, Duolingo and IXL Spanish. These programs will provide an introduction to grade-level Spanish instruction and will expose students to the language in a fun, game based-way. This will begin Monday, 9/13/21.
In place of PE class, students will have opportunities to get plenty of exercise with teacher led games and activities. Beginning 9/7/21, students may wear gym uniforms on PE days. They will wear them to school all day. See your child's specialty schedule from their teacher.
We continue to balance an evolving COVID situation this fall. Recently, the Governor announced a mask mandate for all K-12 schools. Please see the full order here. This will not impact our community as we are already requiring the mask recommendations mentioned in the order.
We will continue to be diligent with our COVID protocols and will adapt to the guidelines as needed. We ask that you support your children by supplying masks for school, and reinforcing proper hand washing at home.
We know the amount of information being shared as the year begins can be overwhelming. Please reach out at any time and we will be sure to help you and your child be ready for school.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!
