Todd's Tidbits

Hooch Families,

Happy Valentine's Day weekend! As a reminder, Monday the 15th is a holiday and no school for students or staff.

From my last SMORE where I provided the announcement on the planning of graduation for our Seniors, here is the update. Commencement ceremonies will be held at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre on May 20th @ 7:00 p.m. and while Seniors last day will be Friday, May 14th, there will be a mandatory practice session prior to the 20th that Seniors must attend (This is when they pick up their guest tickets).

Lastly, I want to draw your attention to the "Counseling Corner" later in this SMORE. Counseling has several important informational sessions planned for Dual Enrollment and Student Scheduling. Please review and contact your student's counselor for additional information.

Dr. Mike Todd

ACT Information

ACT Test

The deadline for 11th Graders to Opt In for the ACT to be given on March 30 was last Monday, February 8. We have 300 students registered for the exam that will be administered digitally. More details regarding the logistics of the day for all students as well as those that registered for the exam will be forthcoming as they are available. We should have an update in the next Smore on Feb 26. Any questions, please contact Mr. Berry at berryg@fultonschools.org.

ACT Prep

Chattahoochee is offering a comprehensive video-based prep course program for the ACT to all 11th graders and pertinent 12th graders through Cambridge Educational Services. Watch this short video for program details. PrepCast for the ACT Test

This program may be a great tool to prepare ahead of our March ACT test date and also may benefit your 10th grade student if they are planning late Spring or Summer ACT testing. If you are interested, please complete the interest form with your student’s information. ACT PrepCast Interest Form

AP Exams

The College Board has released information that provides Face2Face and Digital options for most courses. The following courses will only have a F2F version: Spanish Lang, French Lang, Chinese, and Music Theory.

We will release more specific information regarding the administration schedule and logistics as the district determines the best overall option(s) for our students and district. Additionally, we should release practice AP Exam/Final Exam dates at Chattahoochee HS by the end of the first week of March.

Counseling Corner

Dual Enrollment

All students who have submitted the Dual Enrollment Interest Form in Naviance (assigned as a Task for all 9th-11th graders) will receive an invitation to attend a virtual Dual Enrollment Q&A Session on Teams on Tuesday, February 16th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Students and parents/guardians can pop in and out at any time to ask their questions. If both the student and parent/guardian would like to join the meeting, please only join from 1 device so we can maximize the spots available. Students should check their FCS email account for the invitation and Teams link. As a reminder, current Dual Enrollment students must complete certain steps in Naviance by March 31st to continue their participation next school year.

Scheduling Questions

The Counseling Office will be offering a virtual Scheduling Q&A session on Teams on Thursday, February 18th from 5:00 to 6:30 pm for any students or parents/guardians who have general questions about next school year’s schedule. Students and parents/guardians can pop in and out at any time to ask their questions. If both the student and parent/guardian would like to join the meeting, please only join from 1 device so we can maximize the spots available. Click here to access the virtual Scheduling Q&A Session. ***Please note that this is only for current Chattahoochee students. Rising 9th graders should direct all questions to the middle school.***

PTSA Student Ambassadors Fill Hearts of our Staff

Our PTSA Student Ambassadors wanted to show some love for their teachers that have worked SO hard to support our student body this year. They sent out a survey to their peers and received 245 responses to share their "LOVE" for you this Valentine’s Weekend! Here are a few examples:

“Thank you for giving me a family that I feel like I can truly belong to at Chattahoochee. As a new student, you helped me to settle in from pulling me out of my math class right before lunch to letting me eat in your room even if it wasn’t technically allowed at the time."

"She cares about her students and caters to everyone’s needs, in school and out. She's an amazing teacher who clearly loves her job and wishes the best for her students."

“He inspired me to keep going and encouraged me to finish the semester strong last year He also has been lenient towards my attempt to balance sports and school.”

"Every day she goes above and beyond for her students. She has fun and lively discussions while making sure we’re all still learning. She also is an amazing teacher and it’s obvious that she cares about us and wants what’s best for us.”

Upcoming home athletic events:

Indoor events are 2 tickets per athlete.

Outdoor event capacity is 1047 for the stadium and 200 for baseball.
