Sparling Newsletter

Dec. 11, 2020

Dear Families,

It has been a busy week at Sparling and we recognize a few changes for some students and families at home. Thank you to our community and families for supporting the transition of our Grade 1 classes working at home at this time. We understand that change and the news of a COVID-19 case can be hard, but recognize that as a Sparling Team we can move through this together. There is information below on the at home learning week for Jan. 4 - 8. Please know that we understand that this week will look different for many famlies. Sparling will be sending learning packets home next week and our staff will be available to support throughout the week in January. Please reach out if you need any support during this time.

Sparling is enjoying the Christmas season through spirit days, putting together a virtual concert, and will also be receiving a Christmas Lunch from Hope Mission. You will find details about these events in the newsletter below!

At this time we would also like to welcome Mary Hendrickson to our teaching staff who will be supporting Nancy Hazelwood's teaching assignment while she is away. Welcome Ms. Hendrickson to Sparling!

Christmas Lunch - Dec. 17

On December 17 Hope Mission will be supporting our Christmas Lunch tradition here at Sparling School. Of course with COVID-19 and health protocols our lunch will need to look at little different than before. Our lunch will be provided from a commerical kitchen which follows strict health guidelines. It will be plated for our students and delivered to their classroom where they can enjoy with their class cohorts.

We also recognize that our Grade 1 classes and one of our Kindergarten classes will not be here on Dec. 17. With this in mind, their lunch will be served on December 18th.

Please ensure that you continue to send a snack and perhaps light lunch with your child on these days.

Thank you to Hope Mission for your support in providing us the opportunity to continue this tradition in safe manner for our Sparling students!

Toonies For Turkeys

Our Grade 4/5 class will still be collecting toonies for turkeys until Wednesday, December 16th. We are so proud of the leadership from our students to share the gift of giving with our school community. Hope Mission has been instrumental to helping us put on our Christmas Lunch and this is a way for us to show our appreciation!
