WELCOME BACK
We are excited to start another school year at EGES! We have added some superstar teachers and staff to our already extraordinary Family. We only hire the very best staff to ensure your child receives the BEST Education in PBC! Last year we had some very noteworthy results. We remained an “A” rated school and our 5th grade Science scores were at the top in the district with not more than 5 schools having a higher proficiency than EG!!! (Newsletters will be sent every Friday from this point forward to keep you informed!)
VOLUNTEERS ARE WELCOME - ORIENTATION 8/17
If you would like to volunteer, please attend the orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 17th in the Media Center. You must attend a training BEFORE you volunteer. Mrs. Powell is our PTO President and coordinates the orientations, so please feel free to reach out to her. Please remember to always check-in and wear your badge when you are on campus. Some teachers prefer to have volunteers make copies and assist outside of the classroom. All assistance is GREATLY appreciated!
COVID PROTOCOLS
When should students stay home? When they are sick or they have any symptoms and you are waiting for test results, or if they have tested positive. When may they return to school after testing positive? They may return on day 6 after testing positive as long as they have not had a fever for 24 hours, and symptoms are better. If they return on day 6 it is highly recommended that they wear a facial covering until day 11. We appreciate your cooperation! It keeps EVERYONE at EG Healthy! The district no longer requires that we notify parents if there is a positive case in the classroom or school and we no longer do contact tracing.
ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL
Please do not arrive to school before 7:20! The staff at EG is not on duty until 7:30 and students are unsupervised. When you arrive before 7:20 the staff is unable to get in, as the cars back up and block parking for the staff. We really need your cooperation and help with this. If staff can’t get in we may need to ask the cars that are lined up before 7:20 to depart and go back around so we can get the staff inside to supervise your children. The same is true for dismissal. Please DON’T ARRIVE BEFORE 1:30. PLEASE PULL ALL THE WAY UP WHEN YOU ARRIVE AND DON’T LEAVE BIG SPACES BETWEEN CARS so we can fit the maximum number of cars in line.
COLLEGE MONDAYS – WEAR A COLLEGE SHIRT
Every Monday is College Monday. We encourage students to wear a shirt from the college of their choice. We want our students to think about the future and have a long term goal in mind! Getting them excited about options for after graduation can begin now!
FORTIFY FL
The district is urging all parents to download the Fortify FL app on your phone. This app allows you to remain anonymous and instantly alert law enforcement and school personnel of any suspicious activity you witness or any threats you are aware of. It allows you to include photos and video. Please help us keep our students safe! See Something. Say Something. Do Something.
ADOPT-A-CLASS – PLEASE USE CASH ONLINE
Please consider adopting your child’s class. No amount is too small. All the funds go into an account for the teacher to spend directly on students in the classroom. Funds can be donated using CASH ONLINE.
PLEASE HAVE ID READY TO SHOW IN THE OFFICE
Please have your ID with you and ready to show whenever you come to the main office to pick up your child or to volunteer.
PLEASE JOIN PTO
Please join our PTO. All of the funds stay at the school and are used to benefit ALL students. Our PTO funds an extra person for our cafeteria to assist during lunch time and 2 three hour staff members to provide computer lab on our Fine Arts rotation, along with many other things. Your support is GREATLY appreciated.
VILLAGE OF WELLINGTON GOLF CARTS REGULATIONS
The Village of Wellington has rules and regulations for golf cart use. Please be aware that there are certain areas of the sidewalk leading to our school where golf carts are prohibited. We appreciate your support!
THANK YOU WOMEN OF WELLINGTON
The Women of Wellington held a Back to School Supply Drive and donated all the supplies to Elbridge Gale. We had the items on carts during Meet the Teacher for anyone who needed supplies. We were thrilled to see many people stopping to get what they needed.
SCHOOL PICTURES SOON - NO UNIFORM REQUIRED
Students may wear any attire that you select on picture day as long as it follows the Palm Beach County dress code guidelines which include no short shorts, no spaghetti strap tops, or midriff tops etc. Uniform shirts are not required on any picture days. Our photographers take pictures that are high quality that look like you had them done individually in a studio!
REQUIRED 20 MINUTES OF RECESS
Our students have the required 20 minutes of “RECESS” attached to the end of their Fine Arts block, so they stay with the Fine Arts teacher for an extended period of time to include this recess. The last 20 minutes they are allowed to select from different options offered to fulfill the requirement of FREE CHOICE that that is required. Our 3rd – 5th graders go outside 4 out of 8 days on the rotation during this free choice time. They select the activity they want to do outside. Other grade levels also go outside on some of the rotation days.
REQUIRED 150 MINUTES OF PE PER WEEK
We have an 8 day rotating Fine Arts schedule. Depending upon the number of days that each homeroom has PE each week, the HR teacher then communicates to the rotation teachers, the remaining number of minutes that the homeroom needs in order to reach 150 minutes. The rotation then determines which teacher will complete the 150 minutes of PE. PE may be done inside or outside. Students enjoy the Go Noodle program that is often used indoors.
