Summer Camp Suggestions
Recreation Unlimited- Recreation Unlimited was very pleased to offer camp sessions for individuals with disabilities and health concerns in 2020. We are looking forward to continuing with camps and programs for individuals with disabilities and health concerns in 2021.
We have worked with the Delaware General Health Department and our medical team to determine the best protocols on running a safe camp. Commonly touched surfaces will be routinely disinfected, hand washing will be done on a regular basis, masks will be worn, physical distancing practiced, and daily temperature checks will be a few of the protocols being implemented.

MRS. HORSFORD'S UPDATE
Parent Pick-Up/Drop-off
Dear Parent Drop-Off Families,
The past couple of days we have allowed students to exit their vehicles before the arrival bell. This has helped with the length of the drop-off line, your wait in the line, and the students' arrival to their classrooms on time. We have appreciated your patience and being mindful of our students' safety. However, if it is raining we will NOT be letting students out early to stand in the rain. We will be following procedures as normal. Arrival is at 9:05 am. Pull up to the sidewalk, drop off (4-5 cars at a time), stay in your vehicle, and the student will walk inside the building. Your student will not be marked late during these days.
How can you help?
1. Have your student, with masks on, ready to go when you pull up to the sidewalk (very important).
2. Follow the protocols (pull all the way up before dropping off to allow 4-5 cars to drop off their student(s) at a time, have your child ready to exit, stay in your vehicle).
3. Be ready for a wait, arriving early only creates a long line that may disrupt the flow of traffic on Long or Diley and compromise the safety of all drivers and students.
4. Please DO NOT cut other vehicles off in line. We acknowledge that the line can be lengthy. Your student may also ride the bus if the morning drop-off does not work with your schedule. Petermann Busing can help you arrange transportation (614-837-8525).
News from our Nurse
Hello, Pickerington Elementary Families!
If your child is absent from school for reasons due to COVID-19, please be sure to call the School Nurse, Melanie Thompson at 614-548-1408 as soon as possible. You may also reach her by email at melanie_thompson@plsd.us
Additionally, if you have questions about the quarantine period for those family members who have tested positive or for those who have been exposed to a COVID positive person, please call the school nurse. Determining the correct quarantine period is key to preventing the spread of the virus.
Both of these are very important when recording absences and tracking COVID-19 cases in the school building. We appreciate everyone's help in assuring that we keep our school safe and our students and staff healthy.
Prescription and Nonprescription Medications
If you would like to drop off prescription or nonprescription medication for your student to take during the school day, please fill out the following forms. Also, medication must be dropped off by a parent or guardian and be in the original container.

Watch: Ask PLSD on Facebook, YouTube or our website
You asked - we answered! Our team responds to your questions about the upcoming May 4 ballot issue in our ongoing Ask PLSD video series. You can watch the latest videos on PLSD's Facebook page, on our website, or on the PLSD Communications YouTube channel.
Pickerington residents will decide the future of Pickerington Schools with the May 4 ballot issue. A rapidly growing community is leading to a rapidly growing student body and many of our schools are already at capacity. The ballot issue represents our Plan for Progress and will fund solutions to the District’s facilities needs including:
- the construction of a new junior high school, which would allow for the subsequent redistribution of the student population to alleviate overcrowding.
- reconfiguration of the current Ridgeview Junior High to house elementary school, middle school, and Gateway Academy (gifted) students.
- reconfiguration of Heritage Elementary to house a special needs preschool and the Welcome Center.
- 18-24 classrooms built at both high schools and additional cafeteria space at Pickerington High School Central.
- All buildings would receive some updates to accommodate flexible learning environments.
- Additions or upgrades to current junior high and high school extracurricular spaces.
- New secure entryways would be constructed at both high schools.
If you have a question we haven’t answered yet, please send us an email to ask@plsd.us, and you may see your answer on a future video!
