CSD Updates

Meal Service to Continue

The CSD Meal Service will continue for the foreseeable future until we hear otherwise. If you would like to sign up for the Meal service, please visit our Nutrition department's webpage where you can order meals for the next week. Meals can be picked up at our TakeOutSpots at Decatur High School, F.AVE, and Talley Street from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

If you choose to have your meals delivered to a local bus stop, we suggest signing up for "Predictable Ryde" through the CSD Transportation Department. Link to website here: Predictable Ryde Bus Tracker App Registration. The app is free, its purpose is to provide notifications as the school bus approaches your stop for meal delivery. For the steps on how to set up your app, please visit https://www.csdecatur.net/Page/4360.

Meal deliveries will continue until December free to all children. However, during the week of October 26-30, there will only be meal deliveries on Monday, October 26, and Wednesday, October 28. On Wednesday, October 28, meal deliveries and pick-ups will also include meals for Friday because there will be no deliveries on Friday, October 30. Meals will be available for pickup and delivery on November 2 even though students will not be in school.

Bus Registration

In anticipation of the eventual opening of in-person school, Transportation will be sending emails in November with your assigned route information and how to register for your child to ride the bus. If you intend for your student to ride the CSD bus to or from school at any time this year, please complete the registration form sent in the email from CSD's Transportation department this November. This will serve as your official CSD bus registration as well as the "Predictable Ryde" registration, once registered you will then need to set up the app which will allow you to track your child's bus.

If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Transportation, Lowanda Bowman at lbowman@csdecatur.net.

Winnona Park PTA Holiday Sale

The Winnona Park PTA is gearing up for its Annual Holiday Tree, Wreath and Candle Sale on December 5, 2020. Buy your item online and have it delivered fresh-cut, right to your door December 4-6. This year's fundraiser will feature Fraser fir trees, wreaths, and Hanukkah candles all delivered directly within a 5-mile radius. Pre-Order your holiday items now to ensure free delivery! https://winnonaparkpta.org/product-category/holiday-sale/

Where do we get our trees from, you ask?

Cool Springs Nursery will deliver freshly cut Frasier fir trees and wreaths direct from their farm in North Carolina. There are several sizes to choose from, with prices ranging from $85 to $120. Wreaths and Candles are also available for $30 and $10 a pack, respectively.

The Fraser Fir tree has a symmetrical shape and very tapered, sometimes described as an upside-down cone. The needles are soft and short, deep green on the top, and a silverfish-blue on the bottom. The branches are strong with a sweet fragrance, and it has excellent needle retention. Due to the branches turning slightly upward, it has somewhat of a compact appearance.

This fundraiser is so important because...

The Winnona Park PTA supports many offerings and initiatives including:

  • Classroom libraries
  • Teacher and parent grants
  • Field trips
  • Guest speakers for all students
  • Facility enhancements
  • Various community-building events
  • School community garden
  • Yearbooks
  • Incoming Kindergartener tees

Got questions about the specifics of these areas of support? Reach out to us! We would be happy to share them with you so that you understand the vital importance of the PTA that makes Winnona Park Elementary School so special.
