Willard Middle School
WE LEARN. WE LEAD. WE SUCCEED
Announcements
- Reminder to place your poster size goal sheet visible for students. It is important students see the staff modeling goal setting along side of them.
- Progress 5 ends this Friday - be sure to read about the steps you need to take on the calendar below.
- Please have students hang up something they want to share on their displays outside of ACTION classes. Make sure that you have updated any students that may have left your class or added during 2nd semester. If you need some ideas, be sure to look around the building. Several ACTION teachers have done activities with their ACTION students and created something to display or they have students hang something they are proud of from their other classes.
Goals
Leader in Me Moments - Relationship with others
Emotional Communication
When people are really hurting and you really listen with a pure desire to understand, you’ll be amazed how fast they will open up. They want to open up. Children desperately want to open up, even more to their parents and teachers than to their peers. And they will, if they feel their parents/ teachers will love them unconditionally and listen. Now there are people who protest that empathic listening takes too much time. It may take a little more time initially but it saves so much time downstream. The most efficient thing you can do if you’re a doctor and want to prescribe a wise treatment is to make an accurate diagnosis. You can’t say, “I’m in too much of a hurry. I don’t have time to make a diagnosis. Just take this treatment.”...People want to be understood.
