St Jude School Open House and Pancake Breakfast - Sunday, January 29th
A Note from the Principal
Sunday we kick of Catholic Schools Week with an Open House and Pancake breakfast from 9:00 until 12:30. Mrs. Smith has spruced up the halls by covering the walls with works of art. Teachers will be in their rooms, stop by for a visit and find out what's happening. We've also personally invited new families to tour St. Jude to see firsthand all we have to offer.
Monday is Student Appreciation Day. Students may dress down on Monday and in the afternoon students will watch a movie. Popcorn and beverages have been provided for all students- Kindergarten through the 8th grade. Please see the flyer below about our weeklong campaign for Wednesday's theme of Community; we are collecting NEW socks and underwear for Catholic Charities. Friday we will celebrate Mass, all are welcome to join us. Fr. Brian Humphrey, will discuss his journey to vocations via a taped message. His moving talk, while brief, is quite powerful and one we look forward to sharing with our students.
Catholic Schools Week also launches the registration for the 2023-2024 school year. The office will send home registration packets with the youngest and only on Friday, January 27th. Please note it is a two step process this year, and your spot is not guaranteed until both steps have been completed.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday.
Godspeed,
Mrs. Hibler
More about Kevin Caruso
On January 26th, Kevin Caruso would have celebrated his 63rd birthday. We continue to be saddened by this loss; his sudden departure has been a struggle for students and staff. Many of you continue to reach out, hoping to help. Through my heartfelt conversations with his mother, Carol, it is clear that monetary support is needed to offset the unexpected funeral expenses. St. Jude School has set up a link where you may safely donate through the school’s website. All donations will go directly to the funeral expenses.

Looking ahead, on January 29th, we will be hosting our annual Open House and a pancake breakfast. All proceeds from this event will also be donated towards the funeral expenses. Once donations exceed the funeral costs, a Coins for Caruso Memorial Fund will be established to support student lunches. Kevin was the person who, if a student did not have lunch, would use his own money to provide food so that no child would go hungry. He was always willing to help a student in need. That sort of compassion is something you learn from your parents. Carol Caruso is a long-standing member of the St. Jude community, Kevin grew up down the street, and St. Jude was his second home. It seems only fitting that we keep his memory alive through a memorial fund that reflects his kindness and caring for others, especially students here at St. Jude School.
Everyone's Favorite Assembly Returns!
On Thursday, February 9th, Barn Hill Preserve will be here at St. Jude to do an Educational Animal Encounter Assembly for the students. There is a permission slip that will be coming home with your child today. Every student must have a signed permission slip on file in order to attend the assembly. (Even if the student is not purchasing anything.)
Please return the Permission Slips by Wednesday, February 1st. If you are making a purchase, please clearly mark the purchase on the form, and please make checks payable to Barn Hill Preserve.
If there are any questions, please contact the office.
