Big picture

Did you know?

You probably know that we start everyday at RC with the pledge of allegiance.

But....

Did you know that we also say the RC Pledge. Our paw law pledge reminds us to be Safe, Responsible and Respectful. We are proud to be Ridge Circle Panthers! Ask your child to say the pledge in both English and Spanish. (We have been practicing)

Safety Drills

Our students and staff will practice 3 safety drills: Fire, Disaster and Run/Hide/Fight. We practice so that we can be prepare in the case of emergencies. Many parents have questions about the Run, Hide, Fight Drill. Click here for more information.

Below are the dates of our practice safety drills.

Fire Drill:

  • September 8th at 9:30 am--Completed

Disaster Drill(Tornado or weather related)

  • TBD

Run/Hide/Fight--(For Active Threats)

  • September 12 at 9am

Bus Drill:

  • September 27 morning

Fall MAP testing

Dual Language Students in grades 2-6 will be given the NWEA MAP Spanish Reading Assessement from August 29 to September 16. This data is used as baseline information for our teachers to design lessons to meet the needs of our students.

For parents, this test allows you to see your child's progress in Spanish from year to year. It also gives you an idea of how the student scores compared to other students at the same age and grade level. Parents will receive the results by the end of September.

F & P assessment

All students will be assessed for their levels in Literacy by September 9, 2022

Here is the data we are collecting:

  • Kindergarten--Letter Identification and Letter Sounds-Students are asked to identify how many letters they recognize by name, sound or word.

  • 1st grade - 6th grade-- Text Level --Students will be asked to read a short passage or book. Teachers will be listening for accuracy, fluency, and comprehension.

  • All students will be asked to write a sample. Teachers will used this as a starting place to create their writing lessons.

These results will be available to parents on Infinite Campus under grades. Our teachers will also share this information with you at Student Led Conferences October 20 and 21.

Critical Information

Our teachers need your child's pick up information. Please share with them whether your child is a parent pick up, walker, turnabout pick up, Boys & Girls club or older sibling picking up.

If you are driving your child to or from school, you must use the turnabout on Streamwood Boulevard. Drivers must stay in their cars. Staff will escort your child to their line up location. There is no parking in the turnabout.

Reminder--The staff parking lot is for staff. No parent parking or drop off is allowed.

We encourage all our parents to walk their child to school on the first days to see the traffic and better understand how drop off and pick up work.

** In order for our process to work, it takes patience. **
