In an effort to declutter the classrooms lets begin to recycle, throw away, or donate unneeded items. I am happy to bring items to the Salvation Army that may not be used by our school but can be used by someone. It will be much easier if we begin to recycle now instead of wait until the end of the year when the bin is filled up. Please let me know if you have any unneeded items I can take to Salvation Army.

OUSD to Purchase all Teachers a Chromebook Laptop this Summer
Teacher Feedback Needed to Make Purchase Decisions
As Oakland Unified School District collectively focuses on Common Core, data, and the digital classroom, teachers need to be prepared with the proper tools to support this type of learning environment.
OUSD is making a serious commitment to supporting teachers in the digital classroom by purchasing a Chromebook laptop for all certificated teachers, nurses, and TSA's, Psychologists, Speech and Language Pathologists, CDC Teachers, State Pre-K, counselors, Adult Ed. Contracted Teachers and STIP teachers. Currently, laptops will not be available for subs, management, or classified staff. However, OUSD is researching the needs of these other important staff members for possible future district-funded programs.
We need your thoughts and feedback!
We will be looking at Chromebooks from various manufactures in a variety of sizes to meet teacher needs. We will also explore adding the capability of running Windows virtually and white board software. By this summer, we will make sure that with your Chromebook, you can print, use a projector, access/store documents, and other compatibility issues.
We will review all of the inputs and a team of T&L, IT, and school/teacher leaders will make a decision based on functionality, supportability, availability of device, and cost. Laptops will be delivered to OUSD staff in August.
2 ways to get involved:
1. Please fill out this anonymous survey
2. Attend a "Teacher Input Session"
All "Teacher Input Sessions" are held at McClymonds High School, Room 124.
- Tues., May 19 @ 4-5 P.M.
- Thurs., May 21 @ 7:30-8:30 A.M.
- Fri., May 29 @ 3:30-4:30 P.M.
Your participation and feedback are critical to making the best-informed decisions regarding which laptops will support your needs as an OUSD teacher.
The Esperanza Vision and Mission
Students engage in rigorous, high quality, biliterate academics which prepare them for college and career. Esperanza students and families take responsibility for their learning which allows them to be academically strong in two languages. With a growth mindset, they are unique individuals, who critically think and are determined to succeed. Students show respect for themselves, others and the environment.
Through PLC’s teacher are able to plan for mindful and purposeful instruction. Teachers collaborate to implement rigorous instruction, that meets the needs of all students. Teachers engage in peer observations to receive and give constructive feedback. Teachers use data to drive instruction and make clear plans for corrective instruction. We engage the family and community in quarterly meetings to review growth and set goals.
