As the semester winds down, please continue to cheer on and support your Davis student. We have 9 more days in the semester. Talk with your student about his/her grades. Because we are on block scheduling, a failing grade in a class means falling almost a year behind in those credits. To help your student, please discuss with him/her the grade report s/he received last week, review assignments in Schoology, and encourage him/her to stay after school for tutoring.

Additionally, our block schedule means that a few of our classes now have OSTs in the winter. State testing started when we returned from Thanksgiving and will continue this week. Students received testing letters indicating which tests they are scheduled to take. Keeping our attendance high during this time of year ensures that students are present on the days they are scheduled to test.

Raising children takes a village, and volunteering at Davis is a great way to connect with other parents, teachers, and school support staff who create your child's "village." Parent volunteers also offer a huge resource and support base for the school community, and show students the importance of participating in the larger community.

Davis A&M is looking for parents/guardians to volunteer during the school day as hall monitors. In this roll you will help monitor hallway traffic and offer positive words and encouragement as students travel throughout their school day.

SENIOR PARENTS: This year's FAFSA form has officially opened! In case you didn't know, the FAFSA is a form that you can submit to find out what kind of free money your student might get for college. The FAFSA is a requirement to receive the Say Yes to Education Scholarship, and between these two sources, your student could get over $10,000 in free money for college! And who doesn't want that?

To submit the FAFSA, you will need your 2020 taxes and an FSA ID, which you can create at fsaid.ed.gov.

You can submit the FAFSA on your own or provide your taxes and login information to your student to submit it with Mr. Markusic. We will also be having a FAFSA Day when you will be able to schedule a time to complete your FAFSA, either in-person or virtually. More information is on the attached flyer.

We are pleased to welcome, Tim Hatfield as the newest member of the PHASTAR team! Tim will be serving as our Work Experience Coordinator and will be joining our hard-working programming team. Tim is charged with expanding our work experience program, building out new opportunities, and increasing access to work experiences in the areas of Maritime, Aerospace, and Engineering. Tim has over 8 years of experience in youth services, developing and implementing internships, and connecting with industries to align opportunities for students. In the past eight years, he has worked with AmeriCorps, Open Doors Academy, and HealthSuccess. Tim holds a Master’s in Public Administration from South University.
