High School Summer Credit Attainment and Accrual
JDHS, TMHS, YDHS
Credit for Graduation is the focus of summer courses. Talk with your school counselor to determine the best fit, core classes include Fitness Concepts, Math, Alaska History, and more!
- June 1-14 at JDHS, 9-3:30 with 30 min. lunch
- PLATO online courses all month, open lab M/W/F 9-12 JD and TM
- June 15-29 at TM 9-3:30 with 30 min. lunch an English class
- Transportation support is provided
- YDHS/Choice see school counselor for additional options at YDHS
Middle School
Transitions
Graduating 8th-grade students work towards high school credit accrual
- JDHS June 1-14, 9:00-3:30, with 30-minute lunch
- Focus is credit to stay on track for 4-year graduation
Courses offered include:
Mathematical Mindsets: elective, all students can do well in math, come develop a growth mindset
Fitness Concepts: students explore developing and maintaining personal fitness in the outdoor beauty of Juneau with practice positive social skills as they gain an understanding of how a healthy lifestyle

Elementary
Current 5th-grade students
Graduating 5th-grade students experience middle school
- June 1-14 at Floyd Dryden, 8:30-3:00, with 30-minute lunch
- Classes target areas of common concern
- Transportation offered
Courses offered include:
Mathematical Mindsets: where everyone can do well in math; mistakes, struggle and persistence are all important
Fitness Concepts: experience a piece of the middle school PE promoting individual physical activity as well as teamwork, preparing for the middle school model of team - based activities
Registration for rising 5th-grade students click here . Students should be willing to participate and can commit to the full 10 days.
Current Kindergarten to 4th grade
Continue student learning at Elementary Summer Academy!
- 1 hour of Math focusing on problem solving
- 1 hour of Language Arts focusing on foundational skills and comprehension
- 1 hour of Enrichment (varies by location)
- Recess/Snack time
Locations:
- Auke Bay (AB, GV, KHE, and MRCS students)
- Sayeik: Gastineau (HBV and SA GA students)
- Optional schools, sign up based on their neighborhood school
Dates/Times:
Monday-Friday 8:00-11:30; June 5-30th (no staff or student attendance 6/19/23)
Transportation is available if needed. There will be no cross town busing available. Local Rally sight is an option for afternoons.
