GES Weekly

May 5, 2023

Hello!

What a rainy week we had! Fortunately, we were still able to enjoy time outside in between all of the showers. We celebrated Teacher Appreciation Day this week and are planning a week of appreciation for all of our educators next week. All staff at GES are teachers no matter what their title is. This is part of what makes GES such an amazing and special place. All of our staff are committed to being positive role models for our students and helping all students to be successful.

Should you want to contribute to our staff appreciation next week, please feel free to drop a note to a staff members(s) either via email or on paper.

A special thanks to the staff at GES and the students for making Principal Day on Monday such a joy! I sure felt appreciated and enjoyed all of the cards, notes, flowers and treats! GES is an amazing place to be every day.

Enjoy the weekend.

Warmly,

Angela Cartier

Beautification Day

Students painted rocks to leave around the community as a way to recognize Green Up Day! Each student chose a rock from outside and painted something positive and uplifting, in hopes to brighten someone's day when they see it! They came out awesome.

Mr. Adam cooked up some homemade chocolate chip cookies for a special treat today! Students and staff enjoyed homemade ice cream sandwiches - better known to Mr. Adam as a BIGGY IGGY.

Celebrating Cinco De Mayo!

Mrs. Cartier brought around 3 different types of salsa with chips for students and staff to taste test. They each filled out a rating slip rating the guacamole salsa, traditional red salsa and salsa verde.

3rd & 4th Grade

We had a great time making tabbouleh this week and doing a taste test around the school. Whole grains were the Harvest of the Month for April and we made our tabbouleh with quinoa. The students worked independently in small groups with very little adult help, if any. They showed great collaboration and turn taking skills, which resulted in a delicious product!

School Property Access

Now that Spring has arrived, I would like to remind the community that school grounds are not open to the public during school hours, during the school year - Monday through Friday from 7:45am-3:15pm. If you wish to access the property behind our school, we ask that you please use an alternative trail and not the trail on school grounds. We have asked our students not to engage with pets that they may see during school hours while outside.
