Rainy Day Reminders
*Umbrellas can be used when students are walking to school, but they cannot be brought out to recess. We have covered areas on both playgrounds to help students to stay dry.
*Please send your student with a rain coat every day. They are able to play when it's raining if they have a coat with a hood. Otherwise they are asked to stay under cover. We do not want students missing valuable learning time waiting for someone to bring them dry clothes.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our Mustangs dry!
Fall Conferences
Fall parent/teacher conferences will soon be upon us. These conferences are an opportunity for you and your child’s teacher to share how the start of the year is going as well as to partner in goal-setting for your child. Fall Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for all McBride students. Conferences will be held November 19th and 20th. There is no school for students November 19th-23rd.

Rude? Mean? Bullying?
When students report unwanted behaviors, staff will investigate, problem solve and if reasonable, will deliver consequences. Communication to parents or guardians will follow. Depending on where and when the situation happened, you may hear from the classroom teacher, Mrs. Franz, Mrs. Tyler or any staff member who handled the situation.
When someone says or does something unintentionally hurtful and they do it once, that's RUDE.
When someone says or does something intentionally hurtful and they do it once, that's MEAN.
When someone says or does something intentionally hurtful and they keep doing it-even when you tell them to stop or show them that you're upset - that's BULLYING.
Please join us in teaching these definitions so all of us are familiar with them.

Rosalie Sumsion, Cindi Johnson, Kerry Marshall - (McBride staff) These ladies were instrumental in helping calm a bus full of students this past week on a day that was more difficult.
Jordan Jeffers and Zoe Tolman (4th Grade) and Hailee Jeffers and Alexis Tolman (6th Grade) – Jordan, Zoe, Hailee, and Alexis worked at the book fair with their grown up. After the fair was over, they helped box up all of the books and bookmarks to be returned to Scholastic. Thank you to our great helpers!
Jane Scott, Mika Rardin, Ian Leavy, Mark Opdahl, Orion Fenn, Kyrie Sickler, Cody Bartlett, McKenna Wheeler (6th Grade) – Our fantastic 6th grade volunteers have been coming to the library each morning or afternoon to help shelve books, put away computers, straighten shelves, put out new books for readers, and do many other jobs to help make our library run so smoothly. They are a great group of volunteers. During book fair, they volunteered extra to put books out for our opening day. Then they offered to come in twice a day to make sure the fair was straightened and ready for shoppers. Thank you to our terrific 6th Grade library volunteers!
LeeAnn Holcomb and Katie Marsh (Staff) - Each week we have staff who take care of cleaning up our staff room. These two went above and beyond during this past week. Thank you for the fun decorations and yummy treats! Thank you for bringing fun into our staff room!
Kathy Syrstad (McBride Grandma) and The Lions Club Thank you to Mrs. Syrstad for all she did to organize our McBride community to bring in 500 lbs. of plastic so we could receive a new buddy bench. It was amazing how our community rallied so quickly to bring in so much plastic and it started with an idea from Mrs. Syrstad. Thank you!!!!!
Jackie Jackson (St. Helens High School Staff) Mrs. Jackson worked at McBride this week to help support students and staff in a unique situation that needed attention. What a great resource she was and we're so grateful to her for leaving her position to come help us at McBride.
Katie Quick (2nd Grade Teacher) Miss Quick shows kindness to her colleagues (and students) every day. It's the simple things that matter like when she says "How are you doing?"
Kirsten Humbird (Kindergarten Teacher) Mrs. Humbird has also been nominated for being such a good friend and colleague. She is a great sounding board for problem solving anything.
Mary McCartney (1st Grade Teacher) Miss Mary has been working with extra support staff this week to make sure that all her students are successful. It isn't easy to have extra adults in your room and she has collaborated with many to support her students.
Cindi Johnson (Speech) - Mrs. Johnson has shown flexibility and willingness to travel, to provide instruction to multiple groups and squeeze extra sessions in at anytime. She has a go-with-the-flow attitude when all these changes occur and she's always willing to listen and help when processing the situation.
Lindsay Campbell (3rd Grade Teacher) Mrs. Campbell has been nominated as an excellent teammate and colleague. She has strong work ethic and is working hard to meet the needs of all her students as well as being such a great buddy class for her 4th grade buddy class.
Beth Hansen (Retired McBride Teacher) Mrs. Hansen made a difference when she brought some former McBride colleagues coffee and treats on Halloween morning knowing that on that day it would be needed and appreciated.
Beth Davis (Resource Room Teacher) Mrs. Davis has gone above and beyond this year working in our Resource Room. She helps staff and students in many ways. Mrs. Davis was nominated four times this week from colleagues giving her a shout out for the excellent work and effort she is doing to support staff and students.
Mr. Scott, Mr. Rob and Tommy Millsap (Custodial Team & High School Student) Thank you, Scott and Rob, for going above and beyond to keep our building looking clean and taking the time to help teachers with various tasks. Thank you to our new vacuumer too!
Michelle Flock (Reading Team) Mrs. Flock is a joy to work with, and is dedicated to serving our Mustangs every day. She's focused on meeting the needs of each student she serves -- whether it's in her reading groups, in the kindergarten class she assists, or out at recess duty. She always takes the time to explain expectations to students, to hear their words, and to make sure they know how much she values their thoughts and feelings. We ♡ Mrs. Flock!
