Huggins Paw Print
LEVELING UP IN 2020
What a beautiful week....we couldn't ask for better weather! It's hard to believe that October is officially here.
This is a reminder that Fall Pictures are Tuesday. Our Hounds are welcome to wear outfits of their choice on Tuesday, as long as they comply with LCISD Dress Code. For our virtual students... the photographers will be set up in the gym from 10:30-11:30 ready to take their pictures if you choose. Please turn into the Bus Loading Zone from Huggins Drive. From there, you will drop off your child and wait in your car as your child is escorted into the gym to have their picture taken. During this time, we will be following LCISD Guidelines by requiring students to wearing a mask and social distance. However, students will remove their mask to show off those smiles! If you are unable to attend on this date or time, we will have another opportunity for students to have their pictures taken on picture retake day. More information on this date to come. Please contact your child's virtual teacher if you have additional questions.
Have a great weekend!
PBIS Reward for Parents
We are excited to announce that a limited number of UIL academic elementary competitions will be offered for the 20-21 school year!
However, due to Covid19 the district will only be offering the following 2 events-
Creative Writing (2nd grade only) and Ready Writing (3rd, 4th and 5th grades)
If your child is interested in competing in UIL this year, please fill out the Google Doc Form below.
The form contains additional information and only needs to be completed if your child wishes to compete.
Both face-to-face and virtual students in 2nd - 5th grades are eligible to try-out for the events.
If you have any questions, please contact our UIL Coordinator, Susan Patterson at firstname.lastname@example.org
October is the month of RESPECT!
Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule • Be tolerant and accepting of differences • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements
October also is host to CHARACTER COUNTS! week (Oct. 19-23) and Red Ribbon Week (Oct. 26-30). Look for more information in the upcoming Paw Prints on how Huggins will be celebrating both of these weeks!

Face Coverings (Repeat)
Students are required to bring two dress code approved masks/face coverings daily. One will be worn, and one additional mask/face covering will be brought in a sealed/ziploc bag. Labeling of the masks with a student name is suggested.
Mask questions we have received:
Can my child wear a face shield? Full-face shields may be used in place of a mask to protect eyes, nose, and mouth whenever a mask is not feasible or whenever the education context may benefit from the ability to see an individual’s full face.
Can my child wear a neck gaiter/buff? Yes, these are also approved.
Does the mask have to be a Huggins uniform color? No. Masks may be any color or design. However, no inappropriate language or images will be allowed.
***Please note that BSN Sports has graciously donated Huggins Hounds lanyards that will be given to students on the first day of school. Students will be able to use these lanyard to attach their masks so that they do not get lost.
Please click below for more information regarding face coverings.
