Insights from Your Principal

"Mind over Matter" is a quote that comes to mind often in our profession. We frequently remind ourselves and our students that "we can do it, if we put our minds to it." While it is vital that we give teaching mindful focus and impart the curricular knowledge and skill set onto our students, it is also imperative that we "Teach from the Heart." Genuine "heart" is what makes the learning purposeful, meaningful, and worthwhile for children.

Teaching is a true "calling" that allows us to reap rewards greater than any other career if we open our hearts to the joys that each day brings. It is not uncommon for us to sometimes lose sight of this while on our educational path. It's only natural for us to question ourselves and perhaps wonder if we made the best career choice. I ask that you write down the reasons you became a teacher and keep it in a special place within your classroom. Refer to this piece for inspiration, motivation, or even just for reassurance. Surround yourself with the most optimistic, energetic, and compassionate colleagues…their enthusiasm will infiltrate into your classroom environment, thus creating increased "heart"felt success! --Bridgette Cerny
