Interim Reports and Student Fees:
Friday, November 17th Interim Reports will be sent home with students as well as, current fee statements. Students that have outstanding fees will not be permitted to participate in extra curricular activities. It is extremely important that these fees are paid and brought current. Payment plans are available. Please contact the school office, 513.273.3305 to make arrangements. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Please Remember Lost and Found
Don't forget to remind your student to check the lost and found table for any missing items that they might be looking for. There are lots of clothing items, water bottles, lunch boxes, books, and other random belongings. We will be bagging the items up after school next Friday, November 17th to donate to a local charity.
Drink Reminder
Students may only have water as a drink in the classroom. If they bring other drinks from home, they must finish them in the cafeteria before heading to class (on time).
Lunch Detention Explained
A very common question from parents is "What is a lunch detention and why has one been assigned to my student?"
Great question! At elementary schools, it's common to pull students briefly from a social situation (like recess) as a low level of discipline. Here, since we don't have recess, we often pull students into a classroom for lunch instead of allowing them to eat in the cafeteria. Our goal is generally to change some mild to moderate behavior. For many students, losing a few days of lunch with their peers changes the behavior. For others, the behavior continues, so we further educate the student and escalate discipline to our higher tier consequences like Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday school, etc.
It is totally normal and expected for students to make mistakes sometimes. It's not uncommon for 100 students per week to serve lunch detention for any range of infractions. Lunch detentions don't appear on a student's permanent record. Please feel free to ask if you have questions!
Student Pick-up/Early Dismissal
Parents please know that when you need to pick-up your student up early from school we will check an ID, even if we know you. Please understand this is for the safety of the children. Always remember to bring your ID inside to show us.
Tuesday/Thursday Help Sessions
Teachers will be assigning after school help sessions on Tuesday and/or Thursday for any student missing assignments. Please check with your student to be sure they have turned in all of their work! If they haven't, the required help session will be an excellent time for them to get it finished.
