1 Helpful Resource

This is a FREE download from Teachers Pay Teachers! Click on the picture below to see this quick reference guide that you can send home to parents so that they can support independent reading at home. It has prompts for oral reading fluency, within the text, beyond the text, and about the text.

2 Ideas from your Colleagues

While on recent library site visits, I saw these two great ideas!

Renae Lehman at Georgia Morse Middle School in Pierre took pictures of her Makerspace supplies and created an album. Students can browse and then choose their supplies!

Samantha Miller at Edgemont had her maintenance department add boards to the front of a few shelves so that she could display some of her picture books face forward in stacks. This makes for easy browsing for students and easier shelving for her!

Big picture

3-Minute Read about the Importance of SEL in the School Library

"Most students and educators have just completed the most challenging year in their educational lives. The Covid-19 pandemic has turned our regular school routines upside down, backwards, and on their heads! This has brought stress and anxiety to a myriad of students and the adults who care for them. So, now more than ever it is important to address SEL in the school library."
